Am I unreasonable to be pleased that Puberty Blockers have been banned by the executive in Northern Ireland with unanimous cross-party support

Children are finally being protected and medical evidence listened to rather than noise loud activists.

Everyone deserves quality, evidence lead healthcare, especially children, that gender questioning youths have been so badly let down the last 20 years is a stain on the UK's history as bad as infected blood.

Now we need comprehensive, holistic mental health support for these desperate children.

Who thought Sinn Fein and the DUP could agree on anything?

Turns out experimenting on children is on that list.

Rivkah Brown of Novaro Media has claimed he is going to confirm a permanent ban on Twitter earlier

heathspeedwell · 10/12/2024 16:10

Thank goodness that people are waking up to the danger of these off-label drugs. Puberty blockers have been shown to risk leaving young people infertile, with brittle bones, with lower IQs and with a complete inability to orgasm.

How can children possibly consent to giving up so much when they are not old enough to understand just how much they are sacrificing?

in that case there could be free PBs for every child in England tomorrow given how reliable and biased they are...

Blocking puberty in children, just insane and completely undefendable.

All because some people cannot handle a child who doesn't perform the sex stereotypes associated with their sex.

Madness.

ByMerryKoala · 10/12/2024 16:20

Brilliant. Bit by bit, vulnerable children are being untangled from this unethical and shameful practice.

Porcuporpoise · 10/12/2024 16:22

Good outcome and a good article. Personally I'm longing to see how the BMA slither their way out of this one.

elgreco · 10/12/2024 16:25

That is a relief.

borntobequiet · 10/12/2024 16:33

Good.

TheKeatingFive · 10/12/2024 16:36

Excellent news. We'll look back on puberty blockers like we do now on lobotomies.

Interesting that the Alliance party caved in the end. Also interesting that Sinn Fein north and south of the border have a different position on this. Or at least I think that's the case.

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 10/12/2024 16:51

That's great news.

stanleypops66 · 10/12/2024 16:52

I think alliance are realising that they don't have the publics backing on trans issues anymore. They didn't oppose the motion. SF do appear to be at odds with SF south, but I'm glad Michelle voted this way.

I honestly don’t care.

I think this should be a topic for gender questioning children, their parents and medical professionals.

As somebody who is in none of those categories whether they are allowed or prohibited is not my concern.

I think we all need to stand up for what we know to be right.

Unfortunately, the medical establishment has not been whiter than white on this issue. Children should never have been given drugs without proper testing for their specific condition and protocols in place.

Great, let's bring back lobotomy as that doesn't affect me or my immediate relatives.

Fine, you don't need to comment, then.

Meanwhile, anyone who does have an interest in child safeguarding will be free to do their best to ensure no child is harmed.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 10/12/2024 17:19

Very encouraging.

TrickorTreacle · 10/12/2024 17:26

Good news.

I view indoctrination as a form of child abuse as it has lasting effects beyond childhood. Let children be children for longer during childhood. At the age of consent, they can then start to make informed lifestyle choices such as gender choice and religion.

TamiTaylorIsMyParentingGuru · 10/12/2024 17:28

I’m delighted, but don’t believe for one second that Alliance’s lack of opposition to this was anything to do with doing the right thing - it was purely because of their poor outcomes in the recent election - they are entirely self serving. I have tried to have conversations with local Alliance reps about the issue (and about women’s rights in general) and em they will not even enter into a discussion about it.

Very interesting that the Shinners are divided across the border on this issue. DS lives in Dublin and says he can’t say anything about being GC without being called out as a “bigoted Nordy”

it's mental, it's like saying "I don't have an opinion on all those people killed by infected blood"

Children matter, I thought?
