I was just browsing M&S for workwear inspiration when I saw these model poses...what happened to just standing or sitting so that people could see what the clothes look like? 🤣

Lunges??! Yoga? Can't quite reach my foot??

They look ridiculous 🤣🤣

EnjoythemoneyJane · 09/12/2024 20:41

Saw a funny Youtube short ages ago where a girl walked round her office (I think it was a fashion magazine) and asked everyone to do instant model poses for different brands. I remember the Zara one, with loads of awkward lolling on staircases, people facing the wall, bizarre angry stances, etc. Funny but accurate!

PickAChew · 09/12/2024 20:42

I knew this would be M&S before I even clicked 😅

BeMintBee · 09/12/2024 20:24

I take it as a sign that the clothes probably look dreadful even on a stunning model so the ridiculous pose redirects your attention.

This. Even models look shit, be told!

CortieTat · 09/12/2024 20:45

It’s not to just attract attention, it’s to hide bad construction (or lack thereof) in the first place.

I'm cracking up at these 😂Thanks for giving me a good giggle 😂

HereComesColinFrissell · 09/12/2024 21:05

These responses are fab, I'd not seen the Zara website and now I'm snorting my way through those poses too!! 🤣🤣🤣

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's weird!

Some of the Zara jackets have been very very amusing (click to reveal whole pic as there's a few gems there)

They are all the poses I do it the fitting room to check I really like it, if it doesn't pass the point at knee arm over head pose I don't buy it ! 😬 😂

🤣🤣🤣🤣 you're an M&S model aren't you?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 09/12/2024 21:09

It's so you'll spend your time thinking 'what a ridiculous pose' rather than noticing the hem is about as steady as a wing walker on a rollercoaster and the second button down is too far from the placket to go through the buttonhole.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 09/12/2024 21:10

It's so annoying.

I was looking for a jumper on M+S this week and several had every photo with the model having her arms tightly wrapped around herself. No idea what the jumpers looked like!

A few years ago on zara a dress had every picture on a long exposure with the model running about so it was literally just a blur! 😂

Looks like they're trying to be all artsy-fartsy (does anyone say that any more? 😀) and have forgotten the purpose of clothes modelling.

This had me howling.

IndustrialActionAhoy · 09/12/2024 21:13

Are male models asked to do this?

It's so ridiculous, and completely prevents you seeing what the clothes might look like if you wore them like a normal person.

@AlpacaMittens they're the poses you do in the changing room when you try on something too small or with weird zips and get stuck😬

Clingfilm · 09/12/2024 21:22

Fashion is so up it's arse sometimes. These shops will change their tune when they realise returns are up 300% as people can only see the item properly when they've ordered it and then decide it's not for them.

Wheelyfast · 09/12/2024 21:26

I did once have to cut a very stuck lady out of her ( the shops stock) dress in a changing room ..... And cut through her pants !!!
