DH weed habit

DH smokes weed daily. It has went from the odd one with his friends to all day long in the last 10 years. He will drive and work after smoking then complains about not getting promoted. Complains he has no money for things but spends 100s a month on this I'm sure . I've been reading old posts and naively didn't realise how big an issue it is. I am sick of thinking I smell of weed or worrying my clothes do, I have to wash my hair at the work showers every morning so I can go in feeling clean. Asked him to cut down, not to do it in the house etc but it doesn't change. I think he has mood swings due to this habit/addiction whatever you want to call it. WWYD.

He obviously wasn't like this in the beginning as I'd never have chosen this. I feel he has always downplayed it's impact on him too so never realised how big a problem it is but I know he absolutely would choose it over me now

Only you know your threshold. I wouldn’t be with someone who smokes and definitely not weed. It stinks and I’m yet to meet anyone successful who smokes weed regularly.

There were a group of guys in our friendship group who smoked weed all the time and they’re all still bums constantly complaining they have no money, lots job Etc. we all went to grammar schools and everyone else I’m in touch with has been “successful” as in have nice home, careers, holidays etc. the stoners are by comparison significantly worse off.

You have one life and only you can choose if you’re happy with your current trajectory.

I've just been to the post office, and there were two guys in there who absolutely reeked of weed! They left after a minute but the whole Post Office smelt strongly of weed, even long after they left.
I thought of you OP, and how your house must smell if you DH is smoking inside all evening. You may be used to it but anyone who comes in will smell it immediately.

Yuk. Grown men smoking weed like this just seems childish to me. Would he drink alcohol as much?

I know weed isn’t that bad, and alcohol
causes more harm in general, but if he was drinking g beer like this, you’d call him an alcoholic.

For me this would be a deal breaker, he changes or you leave. He needs MH support.

and yes, you and your home will smell of wed. People might think/ assume it’s you…
