Just that really.

I have applied for tickets for a show and I realise it's a random draw, but just wondered how soon BBC contact you if it's successful.

OP posts:

Yes - it was Question Time though, we were contacted within a day or so.

SpanThatWorld · 05/12/2024 19:48

I've been at a few different TV and radio recordings. Ticket confirmation is usually only 2-3 weeks before the recording.

Glenthebattleostrich · 05/12/2024 19:49

My daughter and I were in the audience for gladiators. We found out 3 days before we had tickets.

We have applied to strictly but get emailed the Tuesday before we have been unsuccessful.

TooManyCupsAndMugs · 05/12/2024 19:50

Yes, Michael Mcintyre and a game show. I applied through applause store and you find out quite quickly. Just keep applying, you'll get in!

ChristmasCarnage · 05/12/2024 19:50

Honestly it’s usually quite last minute. Also, they always overbook to ensure a full audience even with no shows, so go early or you may not get in even with tickets.

Attended the Dog Ate My Homework filming with the kids but I don't think that's the vibe you're looking for...

iwishihadaname · 05/12/2024 19:55

Yes it was a kids tv show presenter was then thought highly of because he fixed things. Enjoyed it at the time but now wonder about the girls that were on the show

Lengokengo · 05/12/2024 19:58

Was at Have I got news for you years ago. A guy I knew constantly applied for tickets and one time he couldn’t use them. Lucky me!

Tiredalwaystired · 05/12/2024 20:28

Yes. We got strictly tickets. Got told about five days before I think. You still have to turn up on the day at stupid o clock and only the first however many in the queue get in as they over allocate to avoid gaps. You then have to come back again about four with a ticket they gave you that morning to get in.

it was worth it though (and I’m lucky as I only live about twenty mins from where they film so it wasn’t a big risk (the people in the queue behind us came from Newcastle).

Oh haha I get it now. Not sure why it's censored,, he's long dead and it was proven he was an awful beast.

I went to a recording of the radio 4 panel show The Kitchen Cabinet.

I've just checked my emails and I was told I'd got a ticket after about 3 weeks.

It was another 7 weeks before the recording, when I got there nearly an hour before recording the theatre was just about full, but I don't know if anyone was turned away or everyone just followed the advice to be early to be sure to get in.

Auburngal · 05/12/2024 20:45

Friend went to a recording for QI. It was their Christmas special. Was early June and everyone carried a Xmas jumper with them to the studio as it was too hot to wear it.

ExtraOnions · 05/12/2024 20:49

QI, Celebrity Mastermind, Strictly, some Dick & Dom kids show, The One Show .. also a few ITV ones

RavenA · 06/12/2024 04:00

My partner was part of the studio audience for an episode of George & Mildred when she was a teenager.

HappydaysArehere · 06/12/2024 04:18

Went to see The Army Game many years ago. Saw Michael Medwin and co coming out after an rehearsal. Also saw Des O’Connor in some kind of comedy show in 1960. He was young of course and I thought at the time he was very ham.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 06/12/2024 04:39

A recording of I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue in Harrogate, back in 2007!

Only in the studio...

cariadlet · 06/12/2024 05:40

Like a pp, I applied for question time. That's slightly different to other shows because you have to put things like how you voted in the last election on the application form. You also get a phone call from a member of the production team before they decide whether to give you a ticket.

BlackChunkyBoots · 06/12/2024 05:51

I used to go in the late 90s when I was skint student. A few failed sitcoms, nothing of note.

timetoreset · 06/12/2024 06:18

Saw Alexei Sayle in a live show recording- brilliant!

mitogoshigg · 06/12/2024 06:20

A few mostly radio, depends on the show but typically a couple of weeks out

ChessieFL · 06/12/2024 06:39

I was in the audience of The Really Wild Show in 1989. Not sure that’s the kind of experience you’re looking for though…
