I don’t plan activities for sleepovers for this age. They just go in the bedroom and play and watch movies with snacks and mess about with skincare. Maybe order pizzas for dinner.

Party games like the one where you try and eat a bar of chocolate with knife and fork wearing gloves, hat and scarf. Or acandy cane hunt round the house. Or a crafty activity like decorating gingerbreadmen (I'd bake plain gingerbread men).

Catza · 30/11/2024 08:38

Agree with PP, you don't need to organise activities for 10 years olds.

I could go buy the stuff and we do that

I wouldn’t organise anything either other than some popcorn and snacks for a movie. Take them on an Autumn walk if you want to get them out

monkeysox · 30/11/2024 08:39

Box of after 8s. Take turns putting one on forehead. They have to get in mouth without touching with hands

jkshdqpr · 30/11/2024 08:39

Takeaway and midnight feast is all a sleepover should cost, you don't pay for activities, they'll entertain themselves.

You could do a non alcoholic ‘cocktail’ station. Different juices, cordials, lemonade, maraschino cherries etc. If you don’t mind the inevitable mess!

Itissunnysomewhere · 30/11/2024 08:41

Bottle of nail polish and they can paint each others nails?

Big colouring book /sheets

Biscuit decorating - buy plain biscuits like rich tea and lots of icing and decorations

They will probably just be happy playing though!

No I don’t mind mess as long as they have fun

Have you asked your DD what she'd like to do? Non-alcoholic cocktails and gingerbread men decorating sounds cute and fun, and most ten years olds would enjoy that.

I asked her last night and she didn’t know what she wanted to do

Don't organise anything other than maybe a fun tea/snacks etc.

Most I'd do is maybe have a make your own pizza, by letting them out toppings on a cheese and tomato pizza...

They're 10 and don't need to be organised

LadySad · 30/11/2024 08:45

Mine used to make cupcakes or biscuits together, or decorate them, then eat them watching a movie, then hot chocolate and bed.

  • A game of twister? No idea if kids that age would play it though, but I always see boxes of it in charity shops.
  • Set up various toppings, and they make their own pizzas with either plain, pizza bases or wraps as a base
  • All go for a walk, collect pine cones. Back at home decorate with spray glitter, add a ribbon and they have a Christmas bauble to take home

I think it's worth having a few activities ready just in case but not necessarily force them into it if they don't need organising

Eating maltesers out of a bowl of flour without using your hands is a favourite here.

ThatShyRoseViper · 30/11/2024 08:48

Wasn’t someone going absolutely spare on another thread a couple of weeks ago about non alcoholic cocktails at a sleepover? Maybe a bit risky unless you know the other parents would approve.

FKAT · 30/11/2024 08:48

Agree with PPs, you don't need to organise anything except drinks and snacks.

When my 10 year old son has friends over, all we do is feed them. They entertain themselves hanging out together. I might put a film on with popcorn and pizza or something but other than that, they don’t need a structured activity at that age, do they? Or is this a boy/girl difference?
