Morrisons low stock?

ItsAllAboutTheBass7 · 24/11/2024 17:25

I've just done a Morrisons online order for myself and my elderly Mum. I couldn't help but notice they seemed to have no stock of lots of items. Things like Babybel cheeses, Chicago pizza, Alpen light bars - Nada. Has anyone else noticed? Just seemed odd, especially at this time of year.

Lots of supermarkets like this Tesco I notice it a lot, Aldi and Lidl, Asda

Ridiculous to be honest

TheHateIsNotGood · 24/11/2024 17:27

Hmm - let's have a little think....maybe it's the weather and the stock wasn't delivered. And it's Sunday,

Well I only nipped on to edit a few items, but seemed worse today. Quite a lot of things were no stock and no alternatives. I just thought it seemed unusual as don't usually encounter it much.

It might be weather but when I was in store on Monday there was plenty of these things

TheTecknician · 24/11/2024 17:31

Not one mushroom to be had in my local Morrison's thus afternoon. Fortunately Mouldi had plenty.

coffeesaveslives · 24/11/2024 17:33

It's Sunday and there's just been a massive storm - it's hardly surprising!

Arlanymor · 24/11/2024 17:34

It’s the impact of Storm Bert.

ItsAllAboutTheBass7 · 24/11/2024 17:40

Ah yes, I didn't think about Storm Bert! Probably because it's not been too bad where we are. Guessing that may be the issue. 😊

OK. Calm down. Thankyou 😂

My mum uses Morrisons online too, it’s been crap for a couple of months now. Always at least 8 substitutions or things just not available (with no substitutions). Often more - last week was 12, and it was normal things like flour, oats, and beer! And it’s only my mum & dad, so they’re not ordering a lot, it’s quite a large percentage.
I think I’ve finally persuaded her to ditch Morrisons and change to Sainsburys.

Yep, it definitely is. We’ve had lots of flooding in Wales and there is a paucity of fresh stuff in some of the supermarkets which I am fine with as it’s a good excuse to take myself to Turtle Bay for dinner.

CrappyJob · 24/11/2024 18:12

Definitely the storm. The store In work at didn't get their delivery yesterday - it arrived today instead, along with today's delivery.. but we don't have double the staff on, so it's going to take a bit of time to catch up.

AmICrazyToEvenBother · 24/11/2024 18:14

I'm near a Morrisons local (not the same, I know) and it's dire most of the time.

ThinWomansBrain · 24/11/2024 18:17

Don't forget they need to make space for all the Easter eggs and seasonal crap that will be heavily discounted in January.

(OK, not easter eggs, but Waitrose had no decent bread but several varieties of Hot Cross bun)

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 24/11/2024 18:33

The floods in Spain have impacted fresh produce really badly and Bakkavor and another of the big own label suppliers are on strike. That's affecting ready meals and sandwiches I think.
Most of the supermarkets are affected.

Chowtime · 24/11/2024 18:36

I get the feeling that Morrisons is winding down. It's so sad to see it's decline when I go into my local supermarket. I'll be surprised if there still around this time next next year.

spuddy4 · 24/11/2024 18:40

Probably supply issues due to the storm. I don't know where their distribution centre is but a lot of the UK has been battered and our delivery was impacted by the weather today.

doodoodahdah · 24/11/2024 18:42

It's none of that. Some supermarkets have been badly affected by a software issue - mainly morrisons and i think Sainsbury's. A company called blueyonder that supplies them software on organising stock levels, deliveries etc has been hacked. It was in the news.

DerekFaker · 24/11/2024 18:42

My local.Morrisons is like this quite pften. I don't know what's going on.

Not my experience. Last week's order was delivered in full, as was the week before. Never had anything like 8 substitutions. I may have had two substitutions once or twice.

I think there's a lot of variation. The southern Morrisons stores don't seem as good as the northern ones, and I'm told you get better service if your local delivery is from a warehouse not a store.

That explains "today", but not last week, last month, etc. I've found Morrisons to be running out of lots of things for several months now. There's definitely something going on in the background. In the two stores I regularly go into, the shelves are seldom full, in fact seldom even half full, not just specific areas, but basically everything, lots of gaps where they've completely run out. Personally, I think they're on the way out and may well be the next supermarket chain to go under. I think their customer base is being torn in half. The people who want cheap are going to Aldi and Lidl and the people who want quality are going to M&S and Waitrose. I think a lot of the rot setting in was that they weren't ready for click n collect nor home deliveries when covid hit whereas their competitiors were already doing it so it left Morrisons behind. Even their in store cafes which always used to be busy and served good food are now mostly empty/quiet and the food quality/speed of service has plumetted.

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 24/11/2024 20:00

I have to shop at weekends at Aldi and haven't been able to get usually for weeks - full fat Greek yogurt, any types of berries, the posh piccolo tomatoes I like, mini cucumbers, wholewheat pasta, packets of brown microwave rice, and the tubs of fresh pasta sauce.

MeanLeanRunnerbean · 24/11/2024 20:12

I do a weekly Morrisons online shop and it's been so bad for substitutions since September for me. I live in a university town so at first I thought it was down to that (the start of term does see an increase in subs) but it's been 8 terrible shops now.

Happyher · 24/11/2024 20:16

I shopped in store last Friday an a lot of shelves were bare. Not a single banana or pack of strawberries but everywhere was sparse even the bakery section. I heard one of the staff saying the weather had delayed their deliveries- we had heavy snow and icy roads last Tuesday for a few days

One day, there was a massive RTA about a quarter of a mile of the distribution centre my former work gets their deliveries from. Stores that are south of there were served fine. We are north of this.

We had gaps everywhere. Explained to customers about this

"That's not good enough" said the customers.

Customers don't understand if there is a break in the supply chain, we don't get the deliveries.
