Just eaten pink beef burger!

We cooked them in the frying pan for 10 mins + and checked with an internal thermometer- which showed 77 C and I believe that’s correct as it needs to be 160 F or 71 C. So temp was supposedly correct.
But as you can see from the photo it was this colour inside! I took a bite without realising - now I’m really worried! They are really thick. I feel like the juices weren’t as clear as they could be either.
I have included the packaging too.

Also excuse the cheese and condiments, I always go overboard when it comes to burgers!

Did you not just put them back in the pan? Thick burgers need to be cooked for longer on a lower heat.

ApoodlecalledPenny · 21/11/2024 18:47

Yum! Only way to eat them, as far as I’m concerned.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 21/11/2024 18:47

Well you can eat beef raw so I'm sure it's fine

Pivotting · 21/11/2024 18:47

It’s fine, some people choose to have them like that.

Eyesopenwideawake · 21/11/2024 18:48

Lovely - just the way they should be 😋

Pogggle · 21/11/2024 18:48

That’s how the pub near me serves their burgers on purpose. Beef can be eaten pink

StillAtTheRestaurant · 21/11/2024 18:48

Oh well it was nice knowing you! 💀

Reallybadidea · 21/11/2024 18:48

Have you made a will OP?

DreadPirateRobots · 21/11/2024 18:48

A good burger should be pink in the middle. Haven't you ever eaten them that way before?!?

BarbaraHoward · 21/11/2024 18:48

Looks tasty.

I know you need to cook a burger more than steak because it's been minced, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

Julen7 · 21/11/2024 18:49

It’s fine, had a few burgers that were like that from a barbecue during the summer. Lived to tell the tale.

AliceTinkersAliceBand · 21/11/2024 18:49

The reason beef burgers aren't meant to be eaten pink is because of the possibility of bacteria due to the mincing process. You'll likely be fine but next time just put them back in the pan/cut in to it slightly to check it's cooked? A meat thermometer isn't likely to be accurate on something so small (ie not a large joint of meat).

samthebordercollie · 21/11/2024 18:50

Looks medium/well done to me (I live in France, it's normal!)

KrisAkabusi · 21/11/2024 18:51

That's how it would be served in a lot of countries. You'll almost certainly be fine.

Parapaderapa · 21/11/2024 18:51

Looks overdone to me!

TurkeyTwizzlers2 · 21/11/2024 18:52

You can eat beef raw. They only don't recommend it if you're pregnant as there's a slightly higher chance of listeria (I say slightly).
You're fine .

1754sunset · 21/11/2024 18:53

Yep had more rare than that in France. You’ll be fine

CaptainRedbeardandbigbadbarry · 21/11/2024 18:54

That would worry me as well.
I am sure you will be fine but really you should have checked - especially as you are the one who cooked it! 🙄

Arran2024 · 21/11/2024 18:58

I always cut one of the burgers open to see how it's doing just to be sure. But you will probably be fine tbh. I have eaten steak tartare (totally uncooked mince) and lived!

littlesnatchabook · 21/11/2024 19:03

I'm sure you'll be fine OP. The risk can't be that high if so many people purposely ignore the mince rule. Plus you only ate one bite! Id maybe get a new thermometer though 😁

Please tell me you don’t cook beef past that? It’s how it’s served in most of Europe. I’m pretty sure the majority of France hasn't died from food poisoning.

It’s only in this country that we have an obsession with cremating beef. Try steak tartare. It’s delicious

dragonfliesandbees · 21/11/2024 19:10

Are juices supposed to be clear when cooking beef? I've only ever considered that when cooking poultry. Anyway it looks fine to me. I've eaten many burgers like that and lived to tell the tale.

Chersfrozenface · 21/11/2024 19:10

I was going to say, people eat steak tartare, which is basically raw mince.

It that was dangerous, lots of posh restaurants would be getting prosecuted.

Parapaderapa · 21/11/2024 18:51

Looks overdone to me!

That’s what I thought
