to ask if a sandwich filling can be "woke"?

I noticed this story in the Mail today Gen Z are ditching traditional sandwich fillings such as ham & mustard or cheddar in favour of "woke" fillings such as chicken, foreign cheeses or avocado. But how can a sandwich filling be "woke"? IMO the word is now used to describe anything that people don't like.

Avocado in a sandwich is pointless. It has no flavour and just goes all brown and mushy.
But why is it woke to eat European cheese. I guess everything that isn't British is woke? The Nigel farage sandwich of choice would be...erm. nobody cares?

😂 I think it just means slightly more sophisticated. Anything fancier than a meat paste sandwich is probably 'woke'.
