Increasingly worried about attack from Russia.

AIBU and it's just media scare mongering?

There's always someone waving their willy. 80 years ago, it was Hitler, 40 years ago, it was the IRA, 20 years ago, it was Bin Liner, now it's Mad Vlad. In 2044, it will be some other megalomaniac.

Remember this: Putin cries when he opens the biscuit tin at the Kremlin and discovers Medvedev has eaten all the chocolate hobnobs.

This post is in very bad taste.

We all know what Hitler did.

Calling it willy waving is irresponsible minimising.

thingymijigi · 20/11/2024 09:35

thestudio · 20/11/2024 00:39

And... all the appeasers (aka @thingymijigi's 'diplomatic solution') enabled Hitler to get pretty close to taking over the whole of Europe. It was America who were the nick-of-time cavalry then; this time.. well.

@thestudio What. Does that mean you're suggesting no attempts to resolve the conflict should be made?

RedRosie · 20/11/2024 10:04

It doesn't seem likely to me, not really. Russia isn't going to attack NATO countries. They also aren't going to attack Ukraine with nuclear weapons ... Much too close to home, too dangerous for their own people.

Poor Ukraine. The upcoming (less than supportive) US administration must be such a worry for them. I hope that Europe stands firm against Putin and that we can all remember that Russian people are not the enemy, only their leadership.

Irishdragon · 20/11/2024 10:26

@IhateHPSDeaneCnt I am sure it was a light hearted post which was not meant to cause any intended offence. Sadly the world seems to be ruled by mad, war thirsty men . I worry for my children most of all .

IhateHPSDeaneCnt · 20/11/2024 10:32

@Irishdragon it did cause offence - how could anyone think otherwise? No hoiking bosoms and clutching pearl necklace here - it is probably no.1 of the most distasteful posts I've read and hope PisterGiven your User name you probably felt it too.

IhateHPSDeaneCnt · 20/11/2024 10:34

Eek! Accidentally posted without reading. Meant I hope the poster asks for it to be taken down - still can't fathom how they would think it funny.

Beekeepingmum · 20/11/2024 10:37

There is no point in worrying about nuclear war. If it doesn't happen and you worried about it then it was wasted worry, if it does happen most of us will be vaporised before we even notice anything happened - so still not worth worrying about.

herecomesautumn · 20/11/2024 10:53

IhateHPSDeaneCnt · 20/11/2024 05:17

p.s I don't see any humour in @RobertaFirmino post - it's beyond ignorant - perhaps you should ask for it to be removed?

You could always report if you think it's inappropriate

And the posts about it are part of the "war" we're currently experiencing

Spreading fear and panic so everyone backs down

The same Russian people that are happy to be paid to mirder Ukrainians?

T4phage · 20/11/2024 11:40

One surely has to ask oneself why the sudden proliferation of scaremongering threads on MN? 🤔

The answer is pretty clear of course and it's quite pathetic that the enemy has to resort to such ridiculousness.

Putrid is nothing more than a weasly, sly, psychopathic, short arsed hood rat. Anybody doing his work is equally stupid, but I suppose it pays the bills in the crumbling damp apartment eh?

bifurCAT · 20/11/2024 11:43

If you keep talking about it, they'll think they've been rumbled and will reconsider 🙂

whatcanthematterbe81 · 20/11/2024 11:59

I know it's my own fault for clicking on these threads but I'm so pissed off that they keep being made. I used to be paranoid about, well most things, but in particular war and terror attacks. I used to lose alot of sleep over it: silly I know, but since I've had kids I've been so much better and ignore the news and enjoy my life. But now I keep seeing these threads and I'm slowly starting to feel myself worry again and even imagining what I would say to my kids if a nuclear bomb was sent over. I dont want to be thread police but do we really have to? It's not like I can hide them as they're in AIBU and not a "let's get everyone scared about war" section!

@RobertaFirmino your post is hilarious 🤣 you should work at the Kremlin and cheer them all up !

I think spirits are quite high in Kremlin Towers with their stooge Trump (who hilariously doesn't even realise it) in place.

Vinvertebrate · 20/11/2024 12:19

Putin is full of BS. All will continue as normal…the odd cyber outage and folk mysteriously falling out of windows.

Well said👏👏👏

Sae3005 · 20/11/2024 17:19

Hmm. I'd say its perfectly normal to ere on the side of caution. Putin is the most unstable man with a huge ego, that he could pull any stunt he wants, and he will. I wouldn't let it consume my life, but I would be lying if I did not freak when I heard multiple fighter jets pass over at a low altitude. I did and for one moment thought "that was weird, I best get home quickly" (like my home would defend me from a bomb attack, lol)

There's honestly no need to be concerned. These aliens are here to protect us and won't allow the ugly short arsed dobbie creature to launch any nuclear weapons 😀 👍🏻😘👽🖖

And nobody died at any of those points....

Yes, is concerning, but what can we do? No point worrying about things we have no control over.

XWKD · 20/11/2024 17:39

I don't think the Russians will do anything that will cause them to be annihilated in a nuclear holocaust.

I don’t think he is unstable at all, which frankly is the lesser of two evils.

I think he is, but he's good at hiding it. The minute his ego is tested he throws a tantrum.

WinterMorn · 20/11/2024 17:52

I think we will have to agree to disagree on this one.
