Any suggestions please? I'm really struggling!
She doesn't really read.
No internet.
She has a very limited diet.
She doesn't need clothing or accessories.
It has to be postable within the UK.

AIBU for traffic.

Thanks.

Flowers

Flowers

Flowers can be lovely but it has to be something I can buy and post and that she can keep. Thanks though.

As above. It has to be something I can purchase and post, not something they just send direct to her.
I should have said that more clearly to start with. 😬

Charity gift? e.g. buy a pair of chickens

ZekeZeke · 16/11/2024 07:42

A calendar to hang on her wall? Cats, dogs, flowers, church's whatever her interest is.
A photo family calendar (she is a relative) with dates of birthdays anniversaries and photo memories.
A china tea cup and saucer.
A crochet blanket/quilt to keep her warm on her chair/sofa.

Sillysausage76 · 16/11/2024 07:42

Is she mobil?
What does she like?
Budget?
Photo in a nice frame
Nice scarf

EmpressaurusKitty · 16/11/2024 07:43

Does she have any hobbies? Would she enjoy a jigsaw?

I know there probably isn’t time for this now but as a potential future suggestion, I got everyone in the family to email me their favourite family photos, printed them all & made an album for my grandmother - she loved looking through it.

Thanks, but no, she'll want an actual gift. She does donate to charity though.

What about a small dried &/or silk floral displays - my gift to an elderly lady was a white pottery person shape, just plain white - with small dried flowers & a couple of silk flowers from memory. I'll try to take a photo of it tomorrow - I'm not in the UK - so if you're interested you may be able to find something similar over there

She's is mobile but not super fit.
She likes watching tv, puzzle books.
I have got her scarves in the past but she's probably got plenty now. I'm scared to post a photoframe but did wonder about ordering a photobook - the only thing is what photos to include.
I might have to resort to the usual nice calendar, scarf and something random, but I just feel like I'm being lazy. 😪

She would do a jigsaw.
I am considering a photo book now actually (though we don't have a large family to contact so...). I might do a photo calendar?

A jigsaw is a nice idea!

What about a magazine subscription of some sort? Maybe a puzzle book one if she enjoys those.

A nice wool blanket for being cosy on the sofa?

Badgerandfox227 · 16/11/2024 07:50

We’re getting my DH Nan a heated blanket. I’ll get her some small bits like chocs and hand cream and pics of the kids as well.

Tipster100 · 16/11/2024 07:50

I saw the most beautiful wool glasses case this week.

What about a wentworth puzzle or an old victory one? You can also get puzzles printed with a favourite photo on.

Landlubber2019 · 16/11/2024 07:50

We got a heated throw last year, it was an absolute winner !!!!

I've done calendars before (bought and made online) - might just do one again.
Scared to post china.
I'm a crafter so she's got a lot of crochet/knit items already, though I could whip something else up.
Thanks.

Does she like nice luxury teas/coffee? Or a nice handcream set, reed diffuser set, set of puzzle books/crosswords?

Latenightreader · 16/11/2024 07:52

You can get some great map related jigsaws - find one of somewhere memorable to her? I have also bought perplex photo cubes in the past - you insert a photo onto each face and it can be rotated to chose which to display. I did one for my grandad with pictures of the two of us together at different ages.

BitOutOfPractice · 16/11/2024 07:53

I bought mom a heated seat pad thingy for her chair. She loves the heated seats in my car so I’ve recreated that for her at home. It’s easy to operate and she likes the little boost of warmth even though her house is heated to sub tropical levels and she never takes her vest off

DieStrassensindimmernass · 16/11/2024 07:53

Thanks for all the replies.
I might just stick to what works usually, calendar, photo, maybe something hand made by me, and some biccies she can have - I just wondered if there was anything I was missing that was obvious. Just want her to know we've put some thought into it.
Heated throw also potentially good idea, but not sure she'd use it as has a well insulated house and good heating.👍

Combine the two! You can create your own jigsaw with pictures of family on it. I did one for my housebound dad a few years ago, he loved it. The same companies that do photo books usually do personalised jigsaws.

Sorry, that was meant to say she wouldn't do a jigsaw!

Sorry folks, I wondered why all the jigsaw suggestions after saying she wouldn't do a jigsaw and realised I actually typed that she would.
To clarify, she wouldn't do a jigsaw. 🫣* *
