To think many designer bags I see are actually fakes

Talking at work about designer bags and I mentioned that when our mortgage is paid off I’d maybe treat myself to a fancy bag. Colleague mentioned that many designer bags we see out and about are fake

thinking about it: many that I see carrying Chanel, goyard, LV etc bags could be fake. I would have no idea how to check or not.

I live near the Mulberry shop in York. Mine probably look fake along with a couple of Coach (gifts from DS when he visited NY twice at Christmas) because I'm generally not into designer gear but I do love a great handbag.

Tik Tok is awash with fake designer bags. I don't know why they allow it. That's why you don't see them in markets any more, it's all online.

With the rise of Hacoo, I always assume they’re fake. I think I’ve seen a handful where I’ve thought real.

I have a fake Mulberry bag, although I rarely bring it out. Bought in a Dubai soukh, it's a very close replica, until you look at the hardware, which is a little too bright and shiny, and nowhere near heavy enough to be real. But I don't use it much because I don't love it.

I would say it's a 50/50 situation of real & fake.

I'm your everyday type of woman, I don't have a massively high paying job but I do have a few thousands pounds worth of genuine bags. So if I can afford them, then other normal women can too. Although I now don't buy new bags (unless Bicester/preloved) because the prices have dramatically increased in the last 5 years and outpriced me :-(

I have several designer handbags. 6 Chanel handbags. All from the boutique. I do not care if anyone thinks they are fake. Perfect, means I hopefully won't get mugged. The reasoning of they are soo expensive so they are definitely fake is flawed. I bought my first chanel in 2015, they cost much more now than they did then. One I bought all those years ago could earn me twice as much as I paid as it was limited edition. Wore it to a wedding in August, got several compliments. I haven't paid big bucks for a bag in years. Doubt I ever will again. No regrets though, I enjoy and am grateful for all I have regardless of whether a random thinks fake.

Yes - I see lots of young women with them on my way to work - no way are they real.

I’m surprised at fake mulberry bags. They’re not even that expensive, comparatively.

My bags are all Coach, Kate Spade and Mulberry. I would never have fakes. Would rather just do without. I wouldn’t get more expensive bags even though I could afford it as it extends into ‘too flashy’ for me.

Me too and I don’t know why. Is a fake mulberry still a really nice leather bag? I don’t care about labels so I’d be happier to have a no logo lovely leather bargain bag.

I only use bags I've designed and made myself so they're all unique and suit my purposes. 😊

I can tell fakes maybe because I love bags and spend so much time viewing the collections, adding and removing things from my wishlist. I was surprised by how many people swore blind I would get good fakes in Turkey. When I was there, I was convinced. I would come back feeling like an idiot for wasting money on real bags when I could get a really good dupe. But none of the dupes looked real, the styles were off, the colours were off. All in all I could tell the fakes. I have several luxury designer bags. I hardly ever look polished. I try to avoid carrying the obvious looking ones when I look a mess because I just know people will assume they're fake. I looked horrific today but wore a gorgeous designer bag with no visible logo. There are so many designers to choose from, some classic, some fun. You can be bold, experiment with colour. Oooh I just love bags.

Oh dear -I'm very "casual" but my Mulberries are very real.

As is the LV backpack which I actually never use as I know people will assume it's fake.TBH I don't actually like it much myself. It was a gift but unfortunately in the monogrammed finish.

I've got a fake LV bag & someone who sells real ones said it was so good a fake that they would have trouble telling it from a real one without going through every stitch on it.

I have a fake kanken, it's fully waterproof has lasted 8 years and shows no sign of wear. As a disabled person on benefits "only" £75 is our weekly food budget.

Most women I know have designer handbags. I genuinely don’t know anyone who would buy a fake so they don’t have to use their real ones. That it very odd behaviour.

i know that there are shops in Turkey that openly sell fake designer clothing and bags. Plus on social media I’ve seen people get hauls from Chinese companies to send fake designer bags, shoes and clothing.

I think that some people make the mistake of opening too many “designer” bags so people will know that they must be fakes because the owners aren’t multi millionaires with that kind of budget.

I collect pieces from various designers and have amassed a rather large collection over the years.

Some fakes come close to looking “real”, especially if you’re willing to pay 00’s for a super fake.

But, to the discerning/trained eye, you can just tell.

The structure, the materials, the hardware, he placement of design/print, the way it holds its shape…

Granted, most people wouldn’t be examining your bag that closely, but some fakes are easy to spot from the other side of the room.

I would take zero pleasure in owning a fake/replica bag, as I genuinely appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into a real one…it’s nothing to do with what it costs, as I’d also be perfectly happy to carry around a nice bag from Zara/Next etc.

i have a few designer bags and a couple really good fakes which I use primarily when travel and want to have a nice bag but don’t want to worry if it’ll get damaged during travel or stolen from a hotel etc. I also only use travel (ie fake) jewellery for travel.

I have a two real designer bags and wear Primark/charity shop clothes. I don't tend to buy fake designer bags as from experience they break easily.

Go for something non branded. Most designer brands are tacky looking anyway

I wear clothes from thrift shops & Vinted and look a bit hippy dippy but I have a real Chanel 2.55 & a Birkin & a fendi baguette from a previous time in my life - I wear them all together happily.

Envy is the theif of joy. Who cares?

I’m talking about bags which cost 30k plus. The owners already own a real one but carry replicas.
