How would you feel if each time the grandparents baby sit they took off the babies accessories like hats, headbands lacy socks etc?

YABU - it’s fine, if they don’t want to keep babies headband / hat etc on while baby is in their care

YANBU - it’s annoying, leave baby as parents dressed them

Babies do not need hats an d headbands on inside a house
So long as they give them back to you

FuzzyPuffling · 10/11/2024 17:48

If it bothers you that much, get another babysitter.

squashyhat · 10/11/2024 17:49

It would show me that the grandparents had better taste than the parents.

PonyPatter44 · 10/11/2024 17:50

Seems a bit weird. Have they said why they do it? I can understand taking off hats indoors, and those horrible little headbands(sorry) , but don't really understand taking off a baby's socks. Wouldn't their feet get cold?

kiraric · 10/11/2024 17:51

Personally I would take the headband off just because they look so naff

Sundaysunshine21 · 10/11/2024 17:53

Wouldn’t bother me at all. That said, I would be annoyed if they were changing an entire outfit for no reason or if I knew they were doing it because they didn’t like my style.

With things like socks, hats and headbands the baby often will get fed up with headbands, hats should only be used outside and babies will often pull off their own socks so if that’s what’s been happening I wouldn’t care.

SummerHouse · 10/11/2024 17:53

So long as they don't mess with the makeup and jewellery I would be fine with this.

yikesanotherbooboo · 10/11/2024 17:57

I would wonder why but not enough to ask . It seems a very minor thing .

TidyDancer · 10/11/2024 17:59

I would be fine with it but then I wouldn't dress a baby in things like that - they don't need decoration.

LightDrizzle · 10/11/2024 18:02

Headbands are a choking and suffocation risk and you can’t possibly know if it’s uncomfortable for a baby so that would be coming off if I were looking after a baby. I think sitters are fine to take off socks and hats if they judge in the moment that the baby more comfortable without them. An exception would be removing a sun hat outside in sun, that is a safety issue.

As long as these items are returned to you I can’t see a problem with it.

YellowHatt · 10/11/2024 18:10

I’d take a headband off before I left my baby with someone else for babysitting to be honest as it would be one less thing to worry about: they can be a hazard.

I also remember hearing that babies learn better if they aren’t wearing socks. But obviously if it’s cold I’d expect socks to stay on.

This!!🤣🤣🤣

BarbaraHoward · 10/11/2024 18:14

I would take a headband off any baby in my care, they're dangerous. Can't believe they're still sold tbh. I don't think babies are supposed to wear hats indoors either as they can slip over their nose.

Lacy socks are naff but harming no one so they should leave those and keep their judgement internal.

coffeesaveslives · 10/11/2024 18:15

It would tell me they had more common sense than the parents - baby headbands are really dangerous.

SometimesCalmPerson · 10/11/2024 18:15

I’d appreciate a grandparent removing anything that was likely to be uncomfortable for my baby.

DieStrassensindimmernass · 10/11/2024 18:16

Babies don't need headbands or lacy socks.
Babies don't tend to need hats on indoors.
As long as you get them back so you can play dress up when the baby is in your care I don't see any issue.

Maray1967 · 10/11/2024 18:16

Why on earth is a baby wearing hats inside or a headband?

Socks - not sure. Are the lacy ones scratchy?

Why do some parents value appearance over comfort? Someone who already had Dc bought my DS jeans dungarees complete with studs etc in 0-3 months size. He never wore them.

Justcallmebebes · 10/11/2024 18:22

I would think they had my baby's safety and comfort in mind. Headbands on baby's are a choking and strangulation risk as well as looking ridiculous

TheRutshireWI · 10/11/2024 18:24

Hats fine for outside, why would you need one inside? Socks easier removed if they like to take them off.

Headbands wouldn't be allowed across the threshold on account of them being uncomfortable, unnecessary and possibly dangerous. (Not to mention looking absurd)

DappledThings · 10/11/2024 18:24

Quite. I think OP is the grandparent in this scenario in which case you are doing the right thing and your son or daughter should realise that and stop moaning.

Overthebow · 10/11/2024 18:25

Headbands are dangerous for babies so I would thank them for being responsible and removing it. Hats are also dangerous if inside so again would expect them to remove it if indoors, and put it back in if going outside if it’s cold.

Newsenmum · 10/11/2024 18:25

Isn’t it for the baby’s comfort?

PinkyFlamingo · 10/11/2024 18:27

Babies don't need hats indoors and they don't need headbands full stop.

lasagnelle · 10/11/2024 18:28

Socks never stay on! And headbands are dangerous and look ridiculous
