My toddler who is 2.5 had a cod fish finger sandwich for tea and 2 more fish finger on the side, he finished the whole thing and I gave him some Jaffa cakes and a banana sucky yogurt thing, that he's eating just now, DH is just home from work and asked what ds had for tea, I told him what he had and he seems to think it's not enough for a growing 2.5 year old.

He can be very fussy and I'm thinking it's a win that he ate that much at all but I'm being made feel horrible by DH. Please let me know if you think this is enough for a toddlers tea?

Whenever I see "offer" in connection to toddler veg I have this image of a carrot on a tiny satin pillow being held out 😂

Can't you try giving him some poached water op?

SharpOpalNewt · 08/11/2024 18:18

I'd be worried it was a bit too much! I'd do the sandwich with some veg on the side and just one out of the jaffa cakes or yogurt.

Mumsnet is a weird place. Feed your kids shit because it sounds cool, then defend their right to medicalise themselves with Mounjaro for the rest of their lives.

Why do you care if people want to take mounjaro? Nobody's making you take it.

InformEducateEntertain · 08/11/2024 18:21

I am surprised that your DH didn't point out the lack of wine or spirits to ensure a balanced intake of nutrients.

It's fine OP. The Vegetation Police are eternally on patrol though and will nee-naw their way over to you for not whizzing up some hidden veg into the very foundations of your house.

^STUPID COMMENT ALERT!!!

Ask the posters who have already commented about the lack of veg or 'why not an actual banana' who is/isn't vegetarian.

Yummy yum yum.

OP, fish goes well with quinoa, there's a lovely delicate balance to it. I'd also steam some asparagus spears.
Oh wait, it isn't in season right now. Drat. Plump for kale.

I preserve my own home-grown asparagus for emergencies like this.

Cocothecoconut · 08/11/2024 18:23

Does it matter if there was no fruit or veg!
it’s one meal
i know someone who ate egg and chips every day for years as a kid
died at 93

sprigatito · 08/11/2024 18:23

Nobody mentioned vegetarians Confused

That's probably youth making him look healthy and strong and actually nothing to be proud of. When he gets to his 20s and is still not eating any vegetables he will look and be unhealthy, whether you like it or not.

Oh stop it how do you know what this posters son eats. Do you live on vegetables??

lasagnelle · 08/11/2024 18:24

I'd add a side of edaname beans slowly steamed with some himalayan salt

What's poached water?

StarSlinger · 08/11/2024 18:24

A nice glass of full sugar coke is all that's missing.

VEGETATION not VEGETARIAN

NicoleSkidman · 08/11/2024 18:25

Enough calories, maybe, but not nutritious.

Assuming the bread is supermarket slided bread, then the main meal is ultra-processed, as are the Jaffa cakes (as well as being full of sugar), and those fruit yogurts are packed with sugar.

Brananan · 08/11/2024 18:25

OkPedro · 08/11/2024 18:23

She said he hasn't eaten a vegetable for years. I eat a lot of vegetables, yes, because unless you've been living under a rock for years it is scientifically proven that they are extremely nutritionally valuable.

You should have gone to Spec Savers.

BookishType · 08/11/2024 18:26

Seems fine quantity wise. But is it nutritious? Assuming the fish fingers are bought, it’s ultra processed and sugary crap for pud.

But I’ve been in here so long, I suspect posts like these are for goady purposes only.

MorrisZapp · 08/11/2024 18:25

Well ok, up to you. I would be concerned if my dcs never ate a single vegetable, but some people don't give a shit.

There are a host of healthy foods and supplements that aren't vegetables. Vegetables are one food group
