To think women should now help Kamala Harris?

PrincessOlga · 07/11/2024 12:17

I read that Kamala Harris (or, to be more precise, her campaign) is now badly in debt.

Do you think it would help if her many supporters across the world, but especially on Mumsnet and in "progressive" countries like Norway and Ireland, rallied around and helped to pay off this deficit?

Like another US politician said, surely there is "a special place in hell" for women who abandon the woman they previously supported? Would it hurt if you sent her just £20?

Excited for Kamala 2028...

Ha. I'll chip in a notebook and pen so she has a place to write down some ideas rather than just spunk money up the wall financing an army of celebrities.

SabreIsMyFave · 07/11/2024 12:41

All the LOLz.

You are joking? Democrats have put in a women twice against Trump and lost both times. They'll not be that daft in 2028!

No doubt you'll have someone say the average republican voters are sexist because the women lost.

HagsRule · 07/11/2024 12:49

I'm.pretty sure Kamalas campaign received alot of donations to the tune of some $1 billion. Plus she good friends with Beyonce, Opera Winfrey, George Clooney, the Obamas. Collectively, their pockets are VERY deep..They could dig deep to help rather than us mere mortals who are struggling to put food on the table and pay bills.

His ego is enormous that I wouldn't rule out George Clooney putting himself forward as a candidate. That would be interesting! 😀

crumpet · 07/11/2024 12:50

She had a billion dollar budget and failed to stick within it. That amount of money for election campaigning is obscene in itself. To overspend is bad management.

FrippEnos · 07/11/2024 12:59

You've got to hope that this is a joke thread, If not it shows how out of touch Harris' party and followers really are.

Sortumn · 07/11/2024 13:02

I'm sure she has a couple of books in her and after dinner speaking tours.

I don't have £20 to give but any money I have would be far better spent supporting every day women who are struggling. .

BarbaraHoward · 07/11/2024 13:06

What are you actually trying to say with this thread OP? Particularly this bit:

especially on Mumsnet and in "progressive" countries like Norway and Ireland

Because you must know that we realise you're not actually discussing US campaign finance, so what are you getting at?

PortiasBiscuit · 07/11/2024 13:08

It was entirely the Democrat’s fault that they won, poor candidate, poor policies. They need to go away and rethink everything, they don’t need a series of random British women with kids to help them with that

MissUltraViolet · 07/11/2024 13:08

This is a mad fucking place sometimes.

letsallchant · 07/11/2024 13:13

Link please to this info about the campaign ending up in debt?

No chance whatsoever the Democrats will run Harris again, or indeed a woman candidate, in 2028. Zero.

TheNoonBell · 07/11/2024 13:20

I'm sure Gates and Soros will be able to contribute a bit more.

GreenSedan · 07/11/2024 13:20

If you think she's some solo woman going it alone and running a grassroots campaign, then you're a total idiot. She's part of a massive party machine, backed by big business and lobbyists and her policies are a hairs breadth away from the Republicans.

Switch your phone off and take a break from the election coverage. It's curdling your mind.

There is some suggestion it's $20 million in debt, no idea how reliable that is though

But imagine burning through over a billion dollars campaigning, its mind blowing

295bkq · 07/11/2024 13:22

This is such a strange idea.

She is perfectly capable of dealing with her own affairs.

dottiehens · 07/11/2024 13:22

Excuse me what? I am pretty sure she can get donations from billionaire Taylor Swift and all the celebrities that backed the Democrats.

CranfordScones · 07/11/2024 13:26

Politicians should set an example and live within their means.

If that's how she runs things then she has no business running a country. I've got no time for politicians who are forever running out of other people's money.

CaveMum · 07/11/2024 13:28

The Democratic nominee in 2028 will be a white male, 40s/early 50s from a swing state. He will be going up against (in all likelihood) JD Vance who will be 44 years old and with the incumbent power of being the sitting VP.

If the Dems pick anyone else, they will fail again. I don’t like it, but it’s true.

GasPanic · 07/11/2024 13:31

If she can't even balance a campaign then why should she be trusted with the budget of a country ?

My guess is if the campaign goes bankrupt, it's the banks who extended the credit that will end up footing the bill.

Personally I think there are a lot more deserving charities out there to receive money than Big Bank Limited.

This will be the right thing to do. They need to give themselves the best possible chance.

I'd say that you'd be naive to rule it out as a factor.

WhichSock · 07/11/2024 17:15

I like her, I’d have voted for her if I was an American, but the chances of Kamala 2028 are exceedingly slim.

ticktickticktickBOOM · 07/11/2024 17:30

No chance.

Democrats lost the election years ago when they appointed 'Rachel' Levine as assistant health secretary.
