To wear this to my graduation?

I'm nearly 25, my university graduation is coming up (midwifery).

I really like this dress, but three separate people (friends and family) have said the plunge and cut-out bits are too much for a graduation.

Is there much skin?

To wear this to my graduation?

Well it's making a statement that you don't see graduation as a serious educational achievement.

The only thing this tells me about the OP is that the OP hasn't read the dress guidance on the unversity website, hasn't thought about the practicalities of how to fix her robe and doesn't feel the cold.

Plenty of universities this would be a perfectly acceptable dress. They don't insist on Smart business attire

All those saying "don't forget you'll look back at this in 30 years time" as if she's going to not look at the photo and see her achievement, her hard work, how beautiful she looked but think "gosh what a dress"

It makes the statement "I am wearing a bright dress to celebrate the hard work I've done"

Stop being so judgey

I'm not being " judgey"
I'm expressing an opinion on the dress and it's suitability. As OP asked us to.
It's a party dress. So obviously if she wears it to graduate people are going to form opinions.

I was thinking about the dress code guidance from the practical point of view of how to fix the gown to the dress.

This was on the guidance on DD's university website.

The guidance just said dress for an occasion, wear your national dress if you have one, and take into account how to fix the robe to what you are wearing. No mention of business attire.

DD and her friends wore flats and took heels just to go on to the stage, then they changed back into flats.

You said she'd give the impression she didn't care about her degree by wearing a dress which covers far more than many dresses worn at graduations

It's judgey af
