I'm 5 foot 3 and 10 stone 4. I'm a size 10 still but wobbly. I have pcos. I've done work with a personal trainer and at the gym. Diet generally good but I cannot shift a stone. Aibu to use mounjaro for 1 month?

Assuming you're acquiring it correctly, your BMI needs to be 30.

VioletCrawleyForever · 31/10/2024 08:02

No one will prescribe it to you unless your BMI is 30+

healthybychristmas · 31/10/2024 08:06

It doesn't work like that. It's not a drug for someone your size. You'd be better off spending the money on personal trainer sessions.

Heidi00 · 31/10/2024 08:13

It's not a drug for someone who is 10 stone. Your BMI isn't high enough. So yeah YABU.

mydaughterisademon · 31/10/2024 08:14

If you have pcso have you asked your doc for metformin? That also helps with weight loss

doodleschnoodle · 31/10/2024 08:15

YABU. It's not for people who want to lose a few pounds. No legitimate pharmacy will prescribe it at that BMI.

ApolloandDaphne · 31/10/2024 08:28

You are only just overweight so you are not eligible for a prescription.

Hypermedi · 31/10/2024 08:35

Don't be ridiculous. It doesn't work like that anyway and you wouldn't lose a stone in a month.

Sajacas · 31/10/2024 08:40

If you have PCOS look into the ketogenic diet, it can help reduce inflammation and there is some evidence that PCOS is linked to insulin resistance, and going low carb can really help sort that out. Low carb will also help with the weight loss.
Best of luck!

ChangeHasCome · 31/10/2024 08:47

YABU to ask on aibu unless...

Agix · 31/10/2024 08:49

GP wont prescribe it, and if you can afford to buy it then it would be much healthier to get a meal delivery service to keep to a calorie limit and get the nutrition you need.

CecilyP · 31/10/2024 08:51

YABU. It seems a bit of a drastic step. You only need to lose 4lb to not even be overweight!

You obviously don't understand pcos

You can't just use Mounjaro for a month. It takes several months to reach a therapeutic dose. It's a 6 month commitment to treatment and is not licenced for people at your weight so you'd have to lie to obtain it.

Howmanywishescanastargive · 31/10/2024 09:15

Of course YABU but I think you know that.

If you just want to lose a stone you'd be better off doing some kind of VLCD.

Idontjetwashthefucker · 31/10/2024 09:21

No and you're being ridiculous but I expect you knew exactly that when you posted.

LostGhost · 31/10/2024 09:41

You wouldn't get prescribed at that bmi.
Also "try it for a month"...2.5 is a loading dose and roughly 50% of people lose weight the first month. A lot of people don't start losing weight until 5 or 7.5. So what happens at the end of the month if you haven't lost anything?

Have you researched it at all or just seen that other (obese/overweight) people have seen success with it?

My first month on it I lost 4lb. £130 to lose 4lb. I'm now almost 5 months in and 3 stone down but the difference is I have another 8 stone to go.

Stretchedresources · 31/10/2024 09:43

To be fair, a size 10 is irrelevant as shops vanity size now.

GreyCarpet · 31/10/2024 09:44

I'd second this. Absolutely.

LavenderFields7 · 31/10/2024 09:46

Also it’s been linked to thyroid cancers, not worth the risk imo.

FriendlyFriend · 31/10/2024 09:47

Yes you’re being unreasonable. You've got in reality 4lbs to lose. Ive got 7 stone. You just want the skinny look

SilenceInside · 31/10/2024 09:51

You can consider it, but no one legitimate will prescribe it to you. You don't meet the qualifying criteria as everyone else has said, and the idea of only taking it for a month shows you don't have an understanding of how it works. It's a long term treatment for people who are obese.

Mumof1andacat · 31/10/2024 09:52

I doubt you get it prescribed as you don't have a high bmi. Even a private company would not prescribe it. What about a personal trainer with a dietary program? Accountability with advice and someone to motivate you then.

ThemeNights · 31/10/2024 09:53

No one will say YANBU but the reality is that many people are doing exactly this. I predict that in the near-ish future the BMI requirement will be revised (everyone complains that BMI is inaccurate unless replying to these kinds of threads!!). "Size 10" is meaningless.

iphi48h · 31/10/2024 09:54

How would you procure it with your BMI. Clearly celebs seem to be using it though they don't have much to lose. For us mere mortals, don't think it works that way.
