if I think 6.50am is a bit bloody early for the postman to be banging on the door?

Even my DS doesn't get me up til 7am and I was in the middle of a really good dream!

That is early! Our postman arrives at 11.45!

bohemianbint · 25/04/2008 13:03

Ours does too generally, much more civilised! Scared the bejesus out of me!

count yourself lucky to get your post in the am!

bergentulip · 25/04/2008 13:07

Better that than not bother to knock at all, and leave you with a card telling you to pick your post up at the main depot-- that would have annoyed you more, surely?

VinegarTits · 25/04/2008 13:19

Why would he be knocking at your door? unless it was to deliver a parcel, maybe he should have waiting at the end of your street until you got out of bed and opened your cutains yabu, he has a job to do.

VinegarTits · 25/04/2008 13:20

obviously i meant waited

Tortington · 25/04/2008 13:21

i get the maid to answer before noon

jellybeans · 25/04/2008 13:22

It annoys me too. The police called for me at 6:45am once, I though someone had died but it was about the previous house owner and a car that had been stolen, they had found some items from it. I was well peed off!! I don't answer that early and the postie will leave round the back or somewhere.

branflake81 · 25/04/2008 14:51

I think 6:50 is ok - it's not that early.

Blu · 25/04/2008 15:01

ten to seven on a weekday is perfectly reasonable.

And if my stuff had been nicked I'd be pleased if teh police brought it round, quarter to, or not - not their fault the previous owners hadn't notified them.

It's very hard getting it right as a public sector worker, isn't it?

UnquietDad · 25/04/2008 15:03

Lucky he knocked at all, and didn't just tap once in a mouse-like way before shoving a card through the door and vamoosing, leaving you to collect the parcel from the depot.

Greyriverside · 25/04/2008 15:06

bohemianbint, I know how you feel. I just wish they could pick a rough time and stick to it. Don't they have a regular route? They come anytime between 6.40am here and 5pm and they don't give you enough time to get to the door so you really need to be standing near it or watching out the window.

jellybeans · 25/04/2008 16:07

Yeah but alot of people panic seeing police round at early hours/night.

bohemianbint · 25/04/2008 18:27

Ah, I knew I was being slightly unreasonable, but since having a baby I hate anyone who deprives me of any morsels of sleep I could have had, however small.

Thing is, we still got post later on. Do parcels from royal mail come separately or sommat?

silvercrown · 25/04/2008 18:30

I was told by my postman that they're not allowed to leave the sorting office until 9am.

southeastastra · 25/04/2008 18:31

parcelforce is separate from royal mail

scottishmummy · 25/04/2008 18:35

YABU means you didn't have to wait in all day

bearmama · 25/04/2008 18:44

YANBU to crave more sleep, I suspect you were glad to get the mail really. FWIW my postie always comes early (between 7-8) if there's a parcel, its seperate from the later regular delivery.

bohemianbint · 25/04/2008 21:56

Spot on bearmama...Even if it was only a ryvita tin!

You people seem to get up pretty early. I think before 7.45 am is too early. I'd get a fright if someone knocked before 7am, also if anyone phoned before 7.30am on a weekday.
