You people seem to get up pretty early. I think before 7.45 am is too early. I'd get a fright if someone knocked before 7am, also if anyone phoned before 7.30am on a weekday.

YANBU to crave more sleep, I suspect you were glad to get the mail really. FWIW my postie always comes early (between 7-8) if there's a parcel, its seperate from the later regular delivery.

YABU means you didn't have to wait in all day

parcelforce is separate from royal mail

I was told by my postman that they're not allowed to leave the sorting office until 9am.

Ah, I knew I was being slightly unreasonable, but since having a baby I hate anyone who deprives me of any morsels of sleep I could have had, however small.

Thing is, we still got post later on. Do parcels from royal mail come separately or sommat?

Yeah but alot of people panic seeing police round at early hours/night.

bohemianbint, I know how you feel. I just wish they could pick a rough time and stick to it. Don't they have a regular route? They come anytime between 6.40am here and 5pm and they don't give you enough time to get to the door so you really need to be standing near it or watching out the window.

Lucky he knocked at all, and didn't just tap once in a mouse-like way before shoving a card through the door and vamoosing, leaving you to collect the parcel from the depot.

ten to seven on a weekday is perfectly reasonable.

And if my stuff had been nicked I'd be pleased if teh police brought it round, quarter to, or not - not their fault the previous owners hadn't notified them.

It's very hard getting it right as a public sector worker, isn't it?

I think 6:50 is ok - it's not that early.

It annoys me too. The police called for me at 6:45am once, I though someone had died but it was about the previous house owner and a car that had been stolen, they had found some items from it. I was well peed off!! I don't answer that early and the postie will leave round the back or somewhere.

Why would he be knocking at your door? unless it was to deliver a parcel, maybe he should have waiting at the end of your street until you got out of bed and opened your cutains yabu, he has a job to do.

Better that than not bother to knock at all, and leave you with a card telling you to pick your post up at the main depot-- that would have annoyed you more, surely?
