To think public smoking should be banned

I live in London and am sick of constantly trying to avoid breathing in disgusting cigarette smoke or the weird sickly smell of vapes. There’s only so much you can swerve, speed past people or cross the road. I feel it’s very selfish to smoke in public spaces, especially crowded streets when people can’t avoid breathing it in. Why can’t people take responsibility for their own health - and others - and just give it up? It’s disgusting and really selfish.

I'd like to ask smokers how and why you started?

I guess it was cool in the 80s.

I’m not a smoker any more but I started because all the cool kids did. I still miss it like an old friend 12 years on.

I don't want lung cancer. I don't feel the need/urge to.

Yes this is why I don't engage in activities that would drastically increase my chance of lung cancer and thus hasten my death. I like breathing 😀

OP, are you saying that smokers/vapers should always stay at home to do it, and never be allowed out in public?

And that they are in 'your space' when they are outside/in public?

So you'd be happy to limit their 'freedom' to suit you and your likes/dislikes?

Presumably, from your comments, and, in your mind at least, they are somehow 'less' than you, and are therefore 'ignorant', 'selfish' 'poor' people, and so don't matter somehow?

So what makes you 'better' than them exactly?

You take the bus/tube/train in London, a city that has atrocious pollution levels everywhere, yet you choose to live there regardless of the damage done to your lungs from the ceaseless pollution? In fact you actively add to it simply by living there and using any transport at all ! (except Shanks pony)

If you don't want to be exposed to 'pollution/smoke/vapes' then go live in the country/stay at home and never go out, cos no-one is forcing you to breathe anything in, it's you who is choosing to live amongst other humans who do things that you don't 'agree' with?

Just did a search of past posts by the OP, and this explains the OP's 'issues' about smoking. (funny how the OP is 'struggling' with hoarding/OCD etc though, surely ALL 'addictions' can be easily overcome by pure 'will', so I have to wonder why isn't that working for the OP??

Who do you think would be able to enforce it? I don't smoke, I hate the smell of cigarettes, weed and vapes - but I avoid at all as much as possible.

I don’t think it should be banned in public places. If so, people who lived in flats would have to smoke indoors, and if they had children that would be awful. Better that they’re still able to go outside for a fag.

But I agree it should be regulated where people can smoke, and not allowed in any kind of queue or place where people might be sitting to eat.
