Just sitting chilling and watching TV, thought to myself “well I’m ready for bed, time to head on up” looked at the clock, it’s just gone half eight!🤦‍♀️
Bloody Hell!😂 it never usually gets me this bad…

My DS used to change his body clock by two hours in the wrong direction every time. It was hilarious. He's better now.

Why do you like dark evenings? Are you a vampire or have some other niche requirement?

Long days are tricky if you have small kids that don’t sleep unless very dark. But otherwise I don’t get it!!

I love lighting the fire and feeling all warm and cosy. It doesn’t feel the same when it’s light out!

FreebieWallopFridge · 27/10/2024 22:03

This is the first year in nearly 2 decades where I’ve felt the benefit of the extra hour.

What happened. Did they go forward or back 🤣🤣🤣

I didn't even know

A bit American but this phrase helps me remember the direction: “spring forward, Fall back.”

Why on earth do we change the clocks? Totally unnecessary.

Without it Scotland would be in darkness until mid morning.

Smileatthesmallthings · 27/10/2024 22:20

I love this one - you're tired earlier so go to bed earlier and actually get the benefit of the extra hour. Also, I was particularly lucky this year as DS woke at 5 from a bad dream, came for a cuddle then slept in till 8:30 (so 9:30 by yesterday's time!)

I also prefer dark evenings. I don’t tend to go out in the evenings so I don’t need it to be light. I much prefer it when it’s dark as I’m a homebody and it’s almost like it gives me permission to just be at home in pyjamas.

MangoRose · 27/10/2024 22:22

I didn't even noticed till 5pm when I looked at the manual kitchen clock haha. I was very confused till I remembered.

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 27/10/2024 22:22

Looked out the window at work, and noticed it was pitch black. Thought to myself, it's got to be at least 7pm which means I can slowly start doing part of the close down. Looked at the till clock 5 bloody 40. The last 3 hours dragged like fuck. In fact the entire 7 hours did and by about 7:45 I'd all but lost the will to live. Didn't help by the fact Ive had a blistering headache for the past few days and woken up at 4am for the last 6 morning's. Including past 2 mornings when I haven't had to set an alarm for work and it's taken me ages to fall back asleep again.

AInightingale · 27/10/2024 22:24

It's sooo unfair on people with small children. Reading these posts has made me remember the sheer misery of toddlers waking at 5.30 am.

suki1964 · 27/10/2024 22:25

Grrrrf · 27/10/2024 20:51

I REALLY wish we could leave the clocks alone. Personally not bothered if year round GMT or BST but PLEASE JUST LEAVE THEM ALONE.

Aye you would be saying that if you lived where it was still pitch dark yesterday at 8:30 am

stayathomer · 27/10/2024 22:26

Loved it this morning-me: why do people complain- extra hour in bed, my eyes finally feel like they’ve had sleep! But longest day ever, don’t know that I’m a fan!!!!

Bogginsthe3rd · 27/10/2024 22:27

A lot of Victorian pearl clutching going on here. People up at 4.30 am for unknown reasons because of the hour clock change. Others have taken to bed with acute malaise at 4.30pm. Nevermind GMT, this is why our GDP is so low!

JenniferBooth · 27/10/2024 22:28

Every year i think Yay an extra hour in bed when the clocks go back and every time i wake with a terrible headache

reluctantbrit · 27/10/2024 22:31

It's the sudden change. I would be ok if it is dark at 5.30pm if it comes naturally. But not from Saturday fine and Sunday dark.

My office doesn't have a lot of natural light so getting out at 5pm and all is dark is unsettling for the next couple of days. When I work from home next to a normal window it is a lot easier.

AInightingale · 27/10/2024 22:31

Do people in Ireland and Scotland even benefit much from BST anyway?

Not just Scotland, us in Northern Ireland would be as well

PyongyangKipperbang · 27/10/2024 22:34

Every pub I worked in that had late opening, I would book off "clocks back" day, because they would be packed with people taking advantage of the extra hours opening and be absolute pissed up arseholes. It was carnage. The only pub I was a manager of that was 2 am closing, I would close at 1 am (so 2am in "normal" time). Still got pissed, pissed off people moaning about it, pathetic.

TotalEclipseOfMyFart · 27/10/2024 22:35

This is the first year it hasn't knocked the stuffing out of me! I'm rather pleased.

Yes!!

Seriously yes. Its been so dark in the mornings for weeks, Saturday I was heading into town at 8am and my lights were on as were street lights

Today yes I woke early thinking it was 5 and it was lovely to see the light by 7am. Lighting up time was around 5ish so for us yes, it makes a HUGE difference

WhiteLily1 · 27/10/2024 22:38

What on earth are you all on about? As long as you don’t have going children, just go to bed an hour later on Saturday eve, wake up an hour later on Sunday morning and boom. Problem solved. Not a long day- a totally normal day?
Being dark an hour earlier is a bit crap but we all know it’s coming!

WhiteLily1 · 27/10/2024 22:38

VapeVamp12 · 27/10/2024 22:40

I really wish we’d stop with the clock changes. Even more now that I have a 4 year old 😂

my brother said yesterday “don’t forget clocks to back tonight so an extra hour in bed” - he doesn’t have kids lol

Nat6999 · 27/10/2024 22:41

I hate the clocks change, I'm autistic & I wonder if this is anything about it.
