Just sitting chilling and watching TV, thought to myself “well I’m ready for bed, time to head on up” looked at the clock, it’s just gone half eight!🤦‍♀️
Bloody Hell!😂 it never usually gets me this bad…

Me too…it feels so bloody late 🙈

Precipice · 27/10/2024 21:21

If you're tired earlier, why not just go to bed earlier and get a longer night's sleep for tomorrow?

I never really notice the hour change but I love knowing we have lovely dark evenings for the next few months.

Why do you like dark evenings? Are you a vampire or have some other niche requirement?

Long days are tricky if you have small kids that don’t sleep unless very dark. But otherwise I don’t get it!!

Puffalicious · 27/10/2024 21:22

An extra hour is AMAZING! It's Spring when you lose an hour that's the bugger, I'm knackered for weeks. How can folk be more tired when you have an EXTRA hour? If you're tired go to bed, sleep luxuriate in an extra hour's sleep tonight/ more time in the morning.

GoldMoon · 27/10/2024 21:24

The cat is confused because she thinks it's her last feed of the day time , and also expecting a few dreamies to send her to bed happy ! Not yet , an hour to go !

Imfreetofeelgood · 27/10/2024 21:25

My partner is doing my head in, lying on the sofa, with heavy eyes, and none stop very loud yawning.

IfYouLook · 27/10/2024 21:25

I tricked it by travelling to Europe early this am - which meant I didn’t have to change my watch. Back tomorrow tho.

Inastatus · 27/10/2024 21:26

@Puffalicious - yep, not getting this thread.

Itisjustmyopinion · 27/10/2024 21:26

I never notice it either way. The comments I have seen on this today it’s as if it’s the first time it’s happened and you would think the clocks went back about 12 hours and not 1

I really don’t get the drama around the clocks changing

I have a 6 month old, he didn't get the memo!
Up at 5.30am and went to sleep at 6.30pm!
😴 I anticipate another early wake up!

My wonderful children who are much older than your baby also didn't get the memo. Their usual get up time is 5:30 so it was a 4:17am start today.

You don't get an extra hour if you have kids argh

My 3yr old was up at 5.15am (6.15 would've been bad as often it's 6.30-7, so we got extra unlucky). 1yr old usually 7-7.30, was 6.15..

I've just got into bed. Shattered from 8pm. Phone off now to sleep, and hopefully not woken up til 6.30 🤞🤞

Cheepcheepcheep · 27/10/2024 21:28

I wish someone could have prepped my preschoolers. Usually up at 6, decided to go 15m earlier today so it was 4.45am. Tired and fucked off. Heading up now even though my usual routine is 10am - 6am.

stormwarrierridesthewaves · 27/10/2024 21:29

I was totally confused when I woke at 1.20am. I couldn't settle so lay awake for a bit. Checked the time again a while later and it was 1.10am. Totally forgot about the hour going back and thought I was losing the plot.

SauvignonBlonk · 27/10/2024 21:33

I’ve eaten everything in sight this evening and am tucked up in bed. My body clock usually changes a couple of weeks before the clocks do. Not this year.
Hate the dark nights but love the lighter mornings.

Miguelo · 27/10/2024 21:34

YANBU. I keep sitting here thinking how late it is. 🤣

I had a two hour accidental nap... Laid down on the bed for a bit because I had a headache and woke up starving two hours later 😑

I REALLY wish we could leave the clocks alone. Personally not bothered if year round GMT or BST but PLEASE JUST LEAVE THEM ALONE.

Seconded

Speedygonzales78 · 27/10/2024 21:38

Today has been a 50 hour day, or so it felt like it! At 5pm I though oh god still 2 hours til DC bathtime 🤣

We have horses. There was no lie on for us. My days feels like it’s gone on forever 🤣

stormwarrierridesthewaves · 27/10/2024 21:41

I'm just glad we don't have to change them manually like we did when we were kids.

I remember one year, my dad put them forward when they should have gone back (he got confused and had it in his head that it was "fall forward" and "spring back").

We arrived at my grandparents house two hours early for Sunday lunch!

Furrydogmum · 27/10/2024 21:44

I'm glad it's at the beginning of half term rather than the end for once!

I can't just go to bed because I'll fall asleep and if I fall asleep too early I'll be awake at about 3.....ive been struggling with this for a while so the clock change is like an extra added challenge 😆 I can handle this one better than spring though!

Bbq1 · 27/10/2024 21:46

I enjoy the clocks changing. It signals Spring /Autumn and feels like a really British tradition. Yes, it can make the day feel longer but embrace it rather than going to bed at 8pm! It doesn't generally affect adults for more than a couple of days. Maybe i was just lucky, but my ds was never affected by the change whe he was little.
