Our Tesla is proving to be the most reliable car ever.
We will get a second one soon.
£4.25 to drive 265 miles.
What's not to like.
It just about drives itself.

Hoppinggreen · 25/10/2024 20:59

I love mine too
Easy to drive and very economical.
I bought it before EM started openly supporting Trump but it would have made no difference to be honest

Sampler · 25/10/2024 21:00

I wouldn’t be seen dead in one, but each to their own I suppose.

LakieLady · 25/10/2024 21:05

Orchidzombiewatch · 25/10/2024 17:40

What prompted me thinking was seeing a woman at the charging point who had a Tesla and then thinking that EM is a toxically masculine man, a misogynist, a racist and a supporter of Trump and Putin. I just couldn’t knowingly line his pockets.

It's academic, because I'd never be able to afford one, but I wouldn't buy one even if I could, for exactly the reasons you give.

I think boycotts are a powerful thing if enough people boycott companies that are involved in unethical things or whose major shareholders are, people and companies might think twice about their behaviour. Mandela always said that the boycotting of South African goods and services played a significant role in bringing an end to apartheid.

Foofedifiknow · 25/10/2024 21:06

Ugh agree - if I bought a tesla I’d feel like a Hand maiden voting for Gilead status quo
Cringe cars
objectionable plutocrat owner

TeenLifeMum · 25/10/2024 21:10

I have a VW… no clue who owns it or their politics.

Createausername1970 · 25/10/2024 21:11

Have you ever eaten Nestle products OP? If you have had a Nestle cereal, or bar of chocolate I could say you are supporting a company who chose to promote their products at the expense of innocent children's lives.

Very few companies have completely clean hands once you dig in to it.

This is exactly why I will never buy a Tesla. Never test drove or anything, as it’s simply not an option for us to contribute directly to Musk’s wealth. He’s a pig.

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 25/10/2024 21:24

Well, I hesitated before buying mine because of him. I wanted an electric car with enough range that I could get where I needed to for work efficiently and a functioning charging network, and the Model 3 was at the time the only option. The only other viable option for me would have been another fossil fuel car and I wasn't prepared to do that because my primary focus is to do what I can for the environment. So... competing priorities that are different from yours, I suppose.

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 25/10/2024 21:30

I have to say, though, I don't look at other people's cars and assume that they must have researched the senior leadership team of the manufacturer and satisfied themselves that they are entirely aligned with the personal and political goals of them or they wouldn't have bought the car. I assume that they made the decision based on what they needed from a car and could afford.

DeepRoseFish · 25/10/2024 21:34

Cannot stand the man and would never own one.

PomegranateKernals · 25/10/2024 21:47

Can't afford a Tesla. Not sure I'd want an all electric car anyway. But I've not knowingly bought a Nestle product since 1995. Don't use Amazon. Starbucks coffee is horrible anyway, so that's easy.

I don't know who.else to avoid!

Ireolu · 25/10/2024 21:55

We chose a different EV and are grateful we did given the stuff he comes out with. DH has also stopped using PayPal even though he doesnt have a stake in it anymore. That I have found more difficult to part with. I personally cannot stand the man. Doubt he cares though.

TheFairyCaravan · 25/10/2024 22:19

I’ve got an EV and will use Tesla charging points, where possible, if it needs charging when I’m away from home because they’re a lot cheaper than the other ones and that matters.

Twixfixing · 25/10/2024 22:27

I think his actions over the last few yrs had devalued the brand?

Twixfixing · 25/10/2024 22:28

Every Uber driver has a Tesla, it’s not a car I would be interested in buying.

rainfallpurevividcat · 25/10/2024 22:30

The Musk connection certainly puts me off ever buying one.

There are other very good EVs around.

This.

MonkeyVsBunny · 04/01/2025 23:13

My Tesla is bloody good, bloody fast, bloody cheap and bloody safe - I feel even more pleased musk is going to destroy the woke mind virus and I helped him do it.

Menopausalsourpuss · 04/01/2025 23:18

Yes, I agree and the op is free to buy whatever she wants. I would feel the same if Keir Starmer owned a car company (not that he's likely to be a successful businessman!). But to compare to Hitler is abit ridiculous.

What on earth are you talking about? The woke mind virus? Musk is all about the money and the power - he gives not one fuck about anything else and you are incredibly naive if you think he does.

Clearinguptheclutter · 04/01/2025 23:30

I wouldn’t go near anything and have now deleted Twitter having previously been a big fan

that said I think all big corporations have some unsavoury stuff going on so I fully admit it’s a bit hypocritical. But Elon Musk seems to be one of the worlds biggest problems right now.

Menopausalsourpuss · 04/01/2025 23:32

I have read that musk has a trans child and that is what motivated him on becoming anti woke (think he used to be a big democrat supporter). But who cares, he is highlighting things that our awful elites have tried to brush under the carpet. And if you don't believe that imagine if gangs of white men had been gang raping 12 year old Muslim girls and racially abusing them - it would have been wall to wall media coverage and outraged mps.
