Hi I’m just seeing if anyone has been in this position before … I am not diagnosed I did have a colonoscopy in may and the lady never took no biopsy just said everything looked great and that was that my doctor wasn’t happy as he said sometimes it’s only visible through biopsies so now I have to go back at the end of the month for the past 2 weeks I have been experiencing urgency each morning and throughout the day going 5/6 times
Each morning I get the worst stomach ache but when I go the toilet it’s just gas and loads of blood but it’s just pours out and then after abit I will have a solid bowel moving with blood init and then lose bowels with blood init
Also getting a lot backache
My doctor said to not do another calprotectin test as they have all come back high my last one was nearly 700! So he said something isn’t right this has been going on since 2022 since I had my son via c section and every couple months it comes and goes my bowels will be completely fine and then one day it will just go all down hill and I’ll have all these symptoms .
But what is worrying me the most is when I get on the toilet it’s just loads of gas and then blood will just poor out not sure weather it’s diarrhea mixed but just looks like watery blood to me I’m at a loss and I just can’t wait to find out what is going on I have 3 small children at home and I’m sat worried everyday all day .
Can I ask also what was your first symptoms of IBD before being diagnosed ?

Also having a lot of mouth ulcers but mainly ones on my tongue that hurt so much 🤦🏻‍♀️

Low ferritin levels (Mine was 12) are common with IBD. As are raised white blood cells and CRP. My red bloods cells were also raised.
Hopefully the doctor can talk you through it and can decide quickly on the next plan of action X

Can someone explain these results to me I don’t understand blood test forms
x

Your ferritin is a little low at 10 but not drastic (mine has been down to 5) so you are low in iron stores. It also looks like your lymphocyte count is slightly low but I don't know what that means, everything else looks fine though. They still need to get to the bottom of your symptoms

First column is your results, the last is the range of normal.

Your anemic which makes bleeding worse. It could be the bleeding with has caused the anemia, diet or not curently absorbing much nutrients.

Your white blood cell count is ever so slightly raised which means you either have an very small infection infection or you body thinks you do or thinks something needs repairing. With your syptoms this would be expected.

Everything else seems to be with normal range.

Honestly, once you have answers it is a lot easier.
This part is the hardest. Keep talking to us x

It’s often the waiting which is the worst time. Your mind goes in overdrive.

Hopefully you will have some answers soon. x

Deebee90 · 22/10/2024 23:35

Oh lovely you sound like me. I’ve been like this for the past 2 weeks but the difference is I’ve got ulcerative colitis and mine is a flare up. I’ve been going to the toliet up to 15 times a day. Have constant urgency after I eat or drink anything. Constant blood and mucus in mine. Low iron. It’s a shit time. Thankfully I’ve been given medication today so I hope I’m on the road to remission again wouldnt wish this on anyway . I hope you get answers soon.

Shauna2866 · 23/10/2024 06:40

@Deebee90 its awful this is the longest flare that’s gone on doesn’t seem to wanna end but then again without the right medication and diagnosis I don’t think it will I’m just happy I go for my appointment next week and then I can get to the bottom of what’s happening with me .
I just feel so tiered all the time and have zero energy but that’s expected with what’s going on
bet you felt much better when you found out what was causing your symptoms
yeah the blood and mucus is horrible
each morning I have urgency but it’s only ever blood and mucus 🤷🏻‍♀️

Shauna2866 · 15/11/2024 18:13

@orangesarethebestfruit hi I went for my colonoscopy on the 31.10
been prescribed medication had 18 biopsies taken just waiting to hear back about the results
but said it looks like IBD definitely medication has been helping me a lot done get the urgency or blood anymore which is amazing as it made me anemic from how much blood I was losing

Really pleased that the meds are helping and hopefully you will get a follow up soon re the biopsies.

They do usually follow a medication pathway so hopefully what you’ve been described will carry on helping but if not there are many further options.

What have they prescribed initially?

Shauna2866 · 15/11/2024 20:00

@orangesarethebestfruit they have prescribed me mesalamine Suppositorys for 6 weeks
so not sure how I’ll get any more hopefully my results will be back by then and they can prescribe me more ? X
