Weird chest pain today

weeurd · 09/10/2024 15:35

I'm having this weird chest pain today and I don't know what to make of it.

I noticed it earlier when taking a depth breath. It's quite sore. The top of my back feels a bit sore and then this soreness, especially when breathing in.

But also just feels generally sore.

I don't really think it warrants the doc yet.

Has anyone else had this ? It's mainly sore when taking deep breaths.

That’s quite a specific diagnosis for someone who is not a healthcare professional!

Sorry should have been clearer, I’m not saying it is at all! There is a chance it could be, but it could just be a virus, muscle ache, part of the OPs MS… none of us (including myself) can say anything other than give suggestions of what it might be and hope the op seeks real medical advice asap.

I'm guessing covid. Mine I had recently was like that. However it could also be something in need of urgent medical attention so I'd call 111

Just doing a test now.

OP chest pain needs investigating at A and E.

weeurd · 09/10/2024 16:40

It's like my ribs hurt when I move around. I think it's muscular.

Maybe I picked up one of my kids the wrong way yesterday or something like that.

I know everyone will be getting frustrated because I'm not going. I'll think about it for a bit and see if I can get someone to look after my kids.

I was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism some weeks ago: they are very serious and can be life-threatening. Chest pain when you breathe in is one of the symptoms. Obviously it could be other things, but take this seriously and get it checked.

weeurd · 09/10/2024 16:48

It's like I have been punched in the ribs or something. It's getting worse now. I'm gona call backup and go.

Definitely a &e. 111 will just send you there anyway.

The wait may not be as bad as you think. We have had two visits there in the last couple of months. I got seen within 50 mins, DH in 2 hours.

Wow. That is impressive times.

Last month I waited 9 hours. in January it was approx 13 hours- which was hindered in part by the drunken knobhead who came in screaming and shouting and launched a booze bottle on the floor right next to me so i ended up needing stitches

Recently had similar and left it a while as have long Covid and had similar. after checking it out in detail it turns out I have asthma BUT they told me if I have something similar and are ever worried to still go in to go/ a and e as there’s a thin line between that and a heart episode

DrunkTinkerbell40s · 09/10/2024 17:39

I think it sounds a bit like costochondritis. I have that. But..... it's new so I would absolutely get it checked xx

Tink3rbell30 · 09/10/2024 18:16

Pulled muscle.

Pulled muscle.

You cannot diagnose people over the internet. Neither can I.

The OP needs to be assessed in A and E.

Makiwa · 09/10/2024 19:07

I had very similar symptoms OP. It was a pulmonary embolism. Please see a doctor as soon as you can.

She asked had anyone had similar. I did and it was pulled muscles.

I've back issues so have to pull myself up from the sofa that's caused muscle pains at times. But it eases off.

My husband had it once. Turned out to be pleurisy.

So many different reasons for chest pain.
I'm glad @weeurd is getting checked out.

weeurd · 09/10/2024 21:08

Thanks everyone. I'm glad I posted. I feel like the more I relax the better I feel. The wait is horrendous, an and e is absolutely packed but what can you do.

The less I stress about it, the better I feel.

I had a sore back and, when I mentioned it to doctor, he immediately had a look at my heart, because he was most of all afraid that back trouble spelt heart problems. So while I would not go to A&E (this is just my rubbish amateurish opinion), I would certainly make a GP appointment and have yourself looked at. Don't be afraid, it is vital to get to the bottom of the pain, because it could be so many things... I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Much love.

Edit: Just saw further posts that the pain seems to have got worse and you are at A&E. Well done. Fingers still crossed for you!

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 09/10/2024 21:21

Glad you're getting checked out OP.

I had a horrendously sore back and ribs and thought I'd done myself some damage somehow but it turned out to be the start of shingles - the rash started maybe 2 days later. Might be worth keeping in mind if the tests all come back negative and the pain is only on one half of your body.

I also suffer with gallstones and that hurts to breathe and like it's in my ribs/back/shoulder.

Makiwa · 09/10/2024 22:13

Glad to hear that you're having tests.

weeurd · 09/10/2024 22:14

I'm out everyone.
I had an ECG, Blood tests and chest xray.

All ok ! So relieved !!

It could be Costochondritis or the MS hug. It took less than 5 hours all in all.

I think I was seen quickly because it was important to rule out blood clots, heart attacks etc.

As we say in France, ouf! Have a good night's sleep. Wishing you well.

weeurd · 09/10/2024 23:30

For anyone who had Costochondritis

How long did it take to go away ?

I'm feeling quite uncomfortable
