Topless in gym pool?

liv4321S · 09/10/2024 10:56

I don't know if this is such an obvious question, but men obviously just wear swimming shorts, as a woman, could I be topless? Or would I be asked to leave?

I mean people sexualise boobs but they're there for a purpose... to feed babies. Surely if men can a woman can?

Thank u

I couldn’t imagine going topless in the pool. I swim slowly enough, the drag from freed norks would render me almost stationary!

I'm not sure why you would want to 🤷‍♀️

Seem to be sexualized? Do you get sexual pleasure from your partner touching your breasts? Does your partner get sexual pleasure from touching your breasts? Womens' breasts are sexual. Womens' chests are not the same as mens.

Yes,they are dual purpose as they can also feed babies.

The purpose of the thread is not about my sexual pleasure. I don’t intend to go for a topless swim in a pool. But for those who do I would let them crack on. Some men also like having their chests/nipples pleasured there’s a thought….

Western cultures are not they only cultures on this planet. You won’t find women in tribes wearing push up bras or getting boob jobs, many don’t even cover them.

They may well be a secondary sexual characteristic, but that doesn’t mean men in the west haven’t over sexualised them.

If you're looking for the most primitive tribes in the world, of course you'll not find push up bras and boob jobs! There simply isn't the technology in the remote places where they exist.

I spend a lot of time in a relatively remote part of one of the most (in fact it might be the most) poor country in Africa. The women in the village where I stay mostly don't have access to bras (though some do) but they do dress to emphasise or flatter their breasts, especially the younger women.

Denying that breasts are a secondary characteristic, and blaming men for 'making them so' is ridiculous. Many mammals have secondary sexual characteristics to attract the opposite sex. We're no different.

I think you’d get asked to leave and it would cause a lot of chaos! But totally get your point and it’s not really fair but I don’t know the laws around it.

No one is blaming men for making them so, I’m blaming men for OVER sexualising them, there’s a difference. Yes many animals do have secondary sex characteristics, and they’re not expected to cover them up! A lot of straight women like a nice chest on a man and find it attractive, but we don’t force them to cover up, do we?

I have no idea why you’re sending this to me? You realise a male Adam’s apple is a secondary sex characteristic, are men expected to cover them? You don’t seem to be able to see the difference between a sex characteristic, and men OVER sexualising that characteristic

Yes! Given I'm only three weeks post-surgery, I have been told to get a much air to the scar as possible. Like last time, I mostly sit around my house topless, although now I am completely flat, have yet to do this in the wild. Also, and given my hair is short/regrowing after chemo, I fear some will think I'm a transman 🙄😶

Will report back should I be tempted!

Apparently it isn't just having breasts, it's being female that counts: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/breast-cancer-survivor-jodi-jaecks-doesnt-want-to-be-exception-to-seattles-swim-rules/

I hope your recovery is going well.

Well that's just silly.

A man doesn't get sexual pleasure from having his Adams apple touched. Breasts are sexual because women get sexual pleasure from their breasts being touched and caressed and nipple stimulation. Breast stimulation turns the majority of women's and gets them ready for sex. That's why we cover them up.

But that is the scenario I was picturing before you said it - essentially there is nothing different between you having undergone a double mastectomy and a transman having undergone gender reassignment surgery. And I think if any gym/pool in question tried to stop a transman swimming without a full costume, they'd be in a whole world of pain. But as for the whole situation - I wouldn't want to do it but what actually is so bad about a woman doing this - what bad thing would happen?

Some women do, not all, not by a long way, just as some men like their chests being touched. Completely irrelevant as to why they must be covered though.

I don’t. We just do it because that’s what expected in society.

I've not done it, but if I was just going about my business, they couldn't really do much about it, right? I mean would it be discrimination saying because I'm a woman and have boobs that's I HAVE to wear a bikini top?

Why would you want to go topless? What’s the purpose?

There is one country (maybe Denmark?) where women have successfully campaigned to be able to swim topless.

Not a swimming pool, but some of the wood fired off grid saunas that have started up over the last three years accept that anyone can be topless. Not that when I have gone any woman has been.

MaggieBsBoat · 09/10/2024 20:29

Azerothi · 09/10/2024 11:52

Surely if you want to go topless in your local gym/swimming pool all you have to say is you identify now as a man. Absolutely nothing they could do about it.

i absolutely support this move. I too think you should do it OP.

The post from the OP about women giving other women „daggers if they even wear a bikini“ marks this OP question as a troll frankly.
a) no woman wants to see your boobs.
b) what irritates women is not the boobs per se, it is the arrogance and „look at me“ that goes with it.
c) women aren’t jealous of you OP- they have either got their own or did have.
d) your comments ooze pisstaking of women and that’s just shit. Women shouldn’t do that to other women.
e) you aren’t wondering anything that any other women hasn’t already thought about and realised that it’s bollocks.

When I lived in Sweden the saunas were mixed sex and naked. Nobody gave a shit. No one needed to swim topless as it’s just exhibitionism.

Where I live now, lots of nudity. No one cares. Maybe OP just wants the look at me factor.

Thank you for your good wishes. It's been a long sixteen months, but am doing much better, thank you 😘

Unlike some transmen, I don't have nipples. In fact, there's nothing whatsoever but a scar that in certain lights, makes it looks like I have pecs!

I find myself living in some curious limbo, more Ken than Barbie doll, and in some's eyes, completely sexless. That said, was showing a friend my lack of chest earlier and she remarked how incredibly feminine I still look.

But, back to the original question - could I be an exception to the rule as I have not only no breasts/breast tissue, but no nipples too. I also have zero sensitivity either, so there is no way I can derive sexual or any pleasure from my chest being touched. It's an interesting thing to ponder.

Caramellie3 · 10/10/2024 09:46

I was thinking along the sauna options similar to Estonia/sweden etc. Same sex sessions for swimming if people wish to do it. Is it much different to a nudist beach. Some people like to be free. Not all men/women find the opposite sex attractive so the sexualisation comments don’t always apply to men with regards to breasts. I think it’s personal choice. Traditionally sex was different to today’s standards without the internet, porn, every fans etc. Hence my previous comments about breasts being meant for babies needs.
