Smelly under boobs

Sorry if this is a bit 😬
I shower daily but am noticing just under my bra, it gets a bit sweaty/smelly, anyone else have this?
I have big boobs and am in peri most likely (46) could it be this?

The Ordinary Glycolic Acid on a cotton pad after showering will get rid of any smells.

But yes, hormonal changes definitely impact sweating and smelling differently than usual.

Scutterbug · 29/09/2024 20:55

Yes! I assume it’s hormonal (I’m 50).

TootieeFruitiee · 29/09/2024 20:56

How often do you wash your bra

Balloonhearts · 29/09/2024 20:57

Just use some talc after showering. Think it's normal but talc gets rid of it or some anti perspirant deodorant.

Puttheneedleontherackets · 29/09/2024 21:02

I wash my bra weekly, is that gross 🤦‍♀️it’s never needed washing more often before, perhaps it does now

Lady Parts is brilliant for this, also for the groin area.

ATuinTheGreat · 29/09/2024 21:03

I guess peri probably can make the sweating/smell worse, but just big boobs on their own can cause this. There can just be an area of skin that is always moist and doesn’t get any air under there.

It sounds ridiculous, but sometimes if it’s hot or occasionally this happens to me and the skin under there gets sore, I stretch a clean sock underneath my underboob area. Then at the end of the day it is dry, not sweaty or smelly or sore!

It seems to do your skin good, just by giving it a break from being in contact with itself all the time.

Justsomethoughts · 29/09/2024 21:04

Does the skin look normal- you can get fungal infection there

ExtraOnions · 29/09/2024 21:04

Medicated Talc … Home Bargains do one that’s quite cheap, and I’ve always found it does the job

misskatamari · 29/09/2024 21:06

Definitely wash your bra if you’re noticing this. It’s sitting in an area that’s sweating and absorbing that - it’s going to smell and be making things worse.

DeedlessIndeed · 29/09/2024 21:06

I've started getting this since being pregnant and now nursing, so I assumed it was hormonal.

Breathable or cotton Bra's with wider waistbands and no underwire have helped me. I'm going to look into the Glycolic acid too!

Puttheneedleontherackets · 29/09/2024 21:07

I mean, it doesn’t smell bad as is sweaty or Bo, just a bit smelly

sunshineandshowers40 · 29/09/2024 21:07

You need to wash your bras more often.

itwasntmetho · 29/09/2024 21:08

Is it a yeasty smell?
I use these probiotics (Optibac for women) and I don't have to keep my under boob rash at bay any more. I used to treat it with coconut oil and lavender essential oil mixed (one is antimicrobial and one is antibacterial).
The Optibac is advertised for thrush, but I think it might has the same cause as those yeast rashes because mine has stopped and I used to have to treat it a few times a month.

halava · 29/09/2024 21:13

A little Daktarin powder at night works great. It dries up the under boob and is anti fungal. I'm prone to that and if ever I feel a little sweaty or itchy in that area I use that powder. Magic stuff for me at least.

Clumsy12345 · 29/09/2024 21:18

It’s probably the washing your bra once a week tbh

unsync · 29/09/2024 21:21

Wild deodorant used underboob is great. It has cornstarch so will absorb, but also prevent chafing. Also, get more bras so you can swap them around and let them air between washes.

MrSeptember · 29/09/2024 21:33

I would agree that washing with some kind of facewash for anti bacterial etc is good. I also think as our boobs sink a litt,e it's a lot easier to get extra sweaty - make sure you're drying really well, maybe even with some talcum powder.

Suzuki70 · 29/09/2024 21:35

I reckon about 3 wears is wash day. I'm a 32FF so there's definitely not a nice airy space between my ribs and underboob these days!

I also recommend hand washing bras and giving the band and wire area a really good scrub.

x2boys · 29/09/2024 21:36

Big boobs and hormones I would think I have the same .

Moulook31 · 29/09/2024 21:39

Bras need to be washed more often. At least after two wears.

autumn1610 · 29/09/2024 21:40

I usually wash my bras maybe every 3 wears so I would try swapping them out a bit more. Might be that you just need to now and they are the thing that is on your skin the most absorbing sweat

eurochick · 29/09/2024 21:40

I'm small of boob and also get this for a few days a month. I'm also late 40s and in peri ( and change my bra daily so it's not that). I had the same issue when breastfeeding so it's definitely hormonal in my case.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 29/09/2024 21:43

I wash mine after each wear, I don’t think once a week is enough especially if you are sweating. I’d wash them all on a very long, very hot wash and shower or wash your body daily.

IMustDoMoreExercise · 29/09/2024 21:44

I have always washed my bras every day because they get sweaty in the area by my armpit.

I will wear my outer clothes for a couple of weeks (unlike some people on here who wash after one wear, but always wash my bra after each wear.
