  • book quiz by any chance?
squeaver · 21/04/2008 20:58

NO!! I LOVE him too! And he was so lovely about his dad in the Times on Sat.

harpsichordcarrier · 21/04/2008 21:00

I loved his dad too
so funny and clever.
yeah, book quiz, I love to see those writer types getting all cross and competitive

oh no has he been on tv and I've missed him [huff emoticon]

Oliveoil · 21/04/2008 21:01

oh he is very funny but not shaggable imo

and he slagged off full engish breakfasts the other day

fecking ponce with his pigs feet and jus of this and that

rony · 21/04/2008 21:03

ooh I love him too! bit short though isn't he?

squeaver · 21/04/2008 21:03

link here

Yabbadabbadooo · 21/04/2008 21:04

My dad and stepmum know him. They both say he is immature, obsessed by the size of his willy (in the manner of a teenager), socially immature, and all in all not the guy you see in writing. He's possibly staying with them again (business reasons) at some point and they're dreading it.

Sorry to rain on the parade. IMO he looks OK but needs a shave.

harpsichordcarrier · 21/04/2008 21:07

oh!
I don't care much about him being short, I like 'em short tbh.
that Times article is very touching and beautifully written imo.
he is very clever on the Book quiz tonight.
shame about the immaturity and the penis obsession though that is a bit of a downer

times article v good

he used to do a column but stopped

I read his restaurant ones in the magazine and they are really witty, especially the illustration (which he doesn't have anything to do with)

he does go on with his sustainable this, where is my fish from etc crap

Yabbadabbadooo · 21/04/2008 21:10

Also he's never ever done a days work in a kitchen in his life so how he can be a professional food critic without knowing how it's done seems odd to me. We could all be doing it.

islingtonponce · 21/04/2008 21:11

haven't you read his recent restaurant reviews in the times mag... the way he writes about his girlfriend ("floozie" etc.) is enough to put you off for life imo. have seen him in the flesh (so to speak) and 'tis true: shortarse.

Oliveoil · 21/04/2008 21:12

has AA Gill worked in a kitchen?

Kathyis6incheshigh · 21/04/2008 21:12

I think his restaurant reviews are very good & very funny but I wouldn't want to shag him

Yabbadabbadooo · 21/04/2008 21:12

He doesn't have a girlfriend apparently. Well he didn't last summer. But the "floozie's" supposedly been on the scene for a while now. His "Floozie" to AA Gill's "Blonde".

Kathyis6incheshigh · 21/04/2008 21:13

Food critics don't have to have worked in kitchens - that is a complete irrelevance.
They have to be able to eat.

Yabbadabbadooo · 21/04/2008 21:13

I don't know but I also hate AA Gill's reviews too.

squeaver · 21/04/2008 21:13

Oh Yabba - talk about bursting my bubble!

Serves me right for fancying someone for the way they write. I'll never get over the first tie I saw Nick Hornby in the flesh - talk about Mr Potato Head!

harpsichordcarrier · 21/04/2008 21:13

actually I don't read the Times, and have only seen him ont he Book Quiz
I sort of knew him a looooong time ago (early 90s) - he is exactly the same age as me and is wearing a lot better
I think to be a food critic you just have to appreciate food though, don't you?

Kathyis6incheshigh · 21/04/2008 21:15

v good point abt floozie vs Blonde. Gill & Coren have been having a war of words over bottled water, haven't they?

squeaver · 21/04/2008 21:16

AA Gill's an arse. Matthew Norman is/was the king of restaurant reviewers (actually does he write them any more, anywhere?). Mind you, he's a total wanker in RL.

harpsichordcarrier · 21/04/2008 21:16

oh come on pretty shaggable I would have said
you girls are waaaaaaaay too picky

Yabbadabbadooo · 21/04/2008 21:16

Kathy - save yourself - don't do either. They'd both always love themselves way more than they'd ever love anyone else.
