I looked and couldn't see a thread for this year.

So Fat Bear Week is nearly upon us again. Yay! I can't believe it's been a whole year already!

Voting for the Fat Bear Juniors starts today then the real Heavyweight voting gets going on October 2nd.

Because it is in US Pacific time, UK voters should be able to vote in the Juniors from 5pm today.

Does anyone know why the juniors only have numbers and not names?

I'm not really sure about the numbers/name thing tbh.

Possibly they will get names as they grow up if they stick around that general region?

I didn't know this was on Mumsnet as well. I posted a comment on a US message board that was removed because it was supposedly disrespectful to the "persons" in the article. The persons involved were bears.

My offending comment "oh my, if we refer to them as fat, will it cause them body dysmorphia"?

I think that in the UK we can still vote for today's Junior Bears up until 2 am tomorrow (27/09).

I’ve voted 909Jr is my pick for junior day bear. Otis has always been my favourite

So the results of the heats are in and 909 Jr is going up against 128's Spring Cub today for the Fat Bear Junior crown.

Again UK voting should open at 5pm today.

I have a feeling that 909 Jr has the win nailed on but time (and voting) will tell.

The real heavyweight voting gets underway on Tuesday the 2nd October with the contenders being announced on Monday.

Fingers crossed that some of the old guard have appeared and are ready to weigh in.

Oh this is sad, I went on to see the adult bears for the competition and all the talk on site is about an incident on the river where one bear killed another.

I know, it is very sad. I don't know why but it's really upset me that it's a female bear that died who had had 8 litters. If it was 2 males it would have felt a fairer fight. Silly really.

Wednesday 2nd, actually, i.e. tomorrow. This is a useful reminder to open the tab and start thinking about it now!

I've unfollowed all of the groups now and don't think I will take part following the sad death of 402. I know it's nature but taking part in a game just doesn't feel right to me now. I'm sorry for all of the people that witnessed this, there are a lot of people that are really sad and disturbed by what they saw.
