That I shouldn't cut my hair pic included

I want to grow my hair long, I last had it cut in May. Since then it's grown from shoulder length to what you can see in the pic.
I took the picture this morning and the split ends are obvious but if I get them cut off I'll be back at shoulder length,
What would you do with my hair?
It's not bleached, this is my Natural colour, it goes blonder in the summer and a darker blonde in the winter.

Another person here to say I love that colour! I’d also love really long hair, but there’s just no way I can without it looking too lank and lifeless. I’d get a trim, it will even your ends up nicely and have it looking really good.

I would take about this off
I did it with mine and it looks so much better

I agree with this. The blunter cut will make it look much healthier.

Thanks everyone, I've booked in for a trim this weekend. I hated my colour at first after years of being bleach blonde but I really like it now,
This was my hair in April when I first got it matched to my root, as you can see it's gone a lot lighter over the summer.

Your hair color is lovely! I would trim and deep condition for upcoming weather x

Thecatistheboss · 25/09/2024 17:16

You’ve got lovely hair! I’d maybe cut an inch. I had my hair bleached to oblivion a few years ago, ever since I’ve used revlon uniq one it’s about £9 on Amazon, honestly best product I’ve used for growing my hair and keeping it in condition ( it’s now bum length)

AuntyMabelandPippin · 25/09/2024 17:21

You won't get rid of the split ends unless you cut them off. I'd have a good two inches off, then make sure you go every two months and have it trimmed.

olympicsrock · 25/09/2024 17:29

Your hair is a lovely colour but pretty fine. It needs a cut and I think shoulder length might suit you better than long.

WestwardHo1 · 25/09/2024 17:32

Looks like you have naturally wavy hair too. I would stop using any heat at all on it, and use a nice argon oil.

Anywherebuthere · 25/09/2024 17:34

Looks like it could do with a trim, just a bit.

MrsCarson · 25/09/2024 17:38

I reduced my split ends by cutting down on shampooing. It dries the hair out badly. Then I use deep conditioner and don't comb once it's fully dry, maybe a wide comb if you need to tidy up, not a thin one that rips through the ends.

Yeahnoforsure · 25/09/2024 17:43

Agree, you have a very pretty hair colour but those ragged ends and splits have got to go.
I feel your pain, not wanting to take off two months worth of growth ( @ half an inch per) but the very least you need off is an inch ( make sure you emphasise this to your hair dresser) and it'll stay nice if you take care not to tangle it or tug at it. It'll catch up and look great if you keep it trimmed a bit.

I agree. Looking at it from the front it's lovely but very fine and thin.

I would keep it shoulder length to make it look fuller and healthier.

Soccermumamir · 25/09/2024 17:50

Definitely have an inch cut off, then deep conditioning will be your friend. Take Kelp for strong hair, which then helps to aid length. Mine is down my back and thick, so get layers cut in. It's always grown quickly, but my friend swears by kelp.

What did I do???

You used the "G" word , the moderators will always delete it (and then return your post) it's something with advertising

Worse than plimsoll?! Crikey

Thistooshallpass24 · 25/09/2024 18:32

I only know one banned word and it's footwear related, I just tried it, thinking it was a Mumsnet myth 👟🤣

PuppyMonkey · 25/09/2024 19:15

I don’t agree at all with those saying don’t use heat on your hair. Letting it dry naturally will make it go all frizzy ime. You need a good round brush and a hair dryer to get it nice and shiny - better still, straighteners as well.

(what is the G word - it what does it rhyme with at least? Grin)

MaybeItsBecauseImALodoner · 25/09/2024 19:30

The G word is confusing me.

Is it Broom but starts with a G instead of B?

If you’re prone to dry/damaged looking ends I recommend Aveda Botanical Repair overnight serum. I wreck my hair with bleach and dye it wacky colours (I’m a hairdresser and should know better 😂) but using this serum every night makes my ends so much softer and nicer-looking.

I’m glad you’re getting a trim but I would try the above as well, it is fabulous. You don’t need to rinse/wash it out, it just soaks in overnight.

Starts with g, rhymes with mummies

It's 'dummies' with a g not a d.

Lots of spam adverts for that item.

I don't know, what did you do? 🤔

Thistooshallpass24 · 25/09/2024 19:44

It's being explained in the thread above your comment

anotherlevel · 25/09/2024 19:52

You can get split end trimmers which doesn't affect the length of your hair. They have them on Amazon. Then I'd say just trim the ends.

Oh my gosh that's incredible! I just bought one. I'm so excited. Lol
