To go to a rave on my own?

I've called it a rave as its literally going to be a rave - its the Prodigy!! The support acts are brill on their own merit. It's a very late finish.

On my own. I'm middle aged. A mother of teenagers. I have a very professional corporate job. But I bloody love the Prodge. Every time they play this venue I've been to at least one of the nights and dragged a reluctant friend along. I have such a good time it genuinely lifts my mood for a very long time before and after.

I was ridiculously excited, and felt really confident about going on my own but now I'm feeling a bit sad and pathetic ☹️

Will I look a state? Aibu to just re-sell my ticket? 😔

I love the prodigy. Def just go on your own. Nobody will notice or care if you're on your own and there will be plenty of others doing the same thing!
My friend in her 50's mainly goes to gigs on her own and I personally prefer going to clubs to dance on my own and have done it many times, even in my 40's!

You will have a blast, you know you will. Always such energy with The Prodigy, and the way they remember Keith now is just perfect.
Your DH is being a bit of a dick about it all.
I'm in touching distance of 50, my DH is 60, might have to look into getting tickets! Not seen them live since Kieth sadly passed. We also do a few days raves a year too, the reunion ones like clockwork orange, Peach (got that in November, missed last weeks one)
House/dance music is both of our loves.
I was a raver, that sanctuary line up looks amazing! Proper Dreamscape/Helter Skelter stuff! Pretty sure World Dance are planning a reunion too.

If you're still a raver, you must know about the Sanctuary Forever events on 2nd and 9th November?
Will be 1st time I've been since 2000 😆

I do indeed! But we are up north and we've already been to 4 this year so we need to calm it down a bit 😂
That's going to be awesome!

A few good ones to look out for, for all you old ravers...

Reminisce in St Helens every September
90s Fest in Sheffield is a blast
Our House in Birmingham

All worth every penny, and full of people 'our age' 🤣

You've got me looking at concert listings now!

U go girl !!!!!

Crushed23 · 22/07/2025 23:34

@Ihearttheprodigyhow did you get on with this? Was it fine going alone? Is raving solo in Manchester safe?! I randomly bought tickets to a festival next year, also in Manchester, when they went on presale at a good price, because the footage and lineup of this year’s festival was incredible. I don’t know what came over me, I don’t even live in the UK anymore 😂 But I’m hoping to tag on a trip to see some family who live in the north of England and make a longer trip of it. Am I crazy to do this?!

Solocup · 23/07/2025 00:10

You’d better go, I’m gunna be strangely disappointed if you don’t 🤣

Sweetpea59 · 23/07/2025 00:28

@NoraLuka im the same! I'm almost 60 & would love to go to a rave but none of my friends want to

It was AMAZING!! So glad i went.

I got adopted for the night by a group of youngsters in their early 20's who made sure I got a taxi at the end of the night before they sorted theirs out 🥹

you could just tell everyone was looking out for each other, it was bloody brilliant.

Probably helped that most of the younger ones were clearly off their faces on E's 🤣 but I dont judge!!

Not crazy at all id go to a festival on my own now after that experience for sure 😃
