A 9 hour day not too long?

Hi, I'm looking to compress my working week to 4 days from 5. In order to do so I'd be working 9-6pm, my job is hybrid so I am always home for school pick up, currently meant to finish at 4pm but I never do, it's always around 5-6pm

Friends and work colleagues are saying it's too much of a long day and my manager won't approve it, I've been in the role a year, others for over 10 years, maybe they have a point? Mimi don't think 9 hour day X 4 a week is too long?

I work 8-6 or 9-7 with an hours unpaid lunch break. Over my 4 days this is a 36hour week. It works well for me.

She does talk to me you know lol.

And if she didn't want to be in her feet so much she'd spend more time in the office ( isolated as she points out) She's the manager so does have that option.

Bloody hell I worked 12/13 hour days regularly. Not ideal but sometimes you have to get shit done

OP you have given me food for thought, I have been contemplating reducing my hours for an additional day off but this could be something that would work for me!

7am starts 1am finishes in hospitality…maybe I should have listened harder in school 😂

Well I'm glad we only have a 35 hour week where I work!

I do 8-4 (M, T, W, T) and 8-1 (F) with 30 mins for lunch.

Mostly I struggle to stick to my hours but when we do have quieter periods, it's lovely 😊

I work 7.30-5 every day for 4 days.
It's fine

I'm currently working 8 till 6, 3 days a week.

It's ok

It's actually 4 days a week 😅

So every other weekend is a long one

Just ask and see what they say. It’s not full time hours compressed into 4 days though - if you take 30 minutes lunch it’s 34 hours. They might be fine with you dropping hours slightly.
