Neighbour moved bin

Neighbour moved our bin to front of our property yesterday. I'd left as I normally do at the back at the edge of our pathway that leads to our back gate and when I came home to move it back into our garden (I keep it here so no one can put their rubbish in it). The emptied bin had been moved to the front of our property. Unfortunately their driveway is next to our pathway and they constantly have their big work vans and other cars blocking our pathway with their bins as well (the vans take up all the space). I am annoyed they moved our bin to the front when it's our pathway and I always take bin in the next day almost straight away after it had been emptied by dustmen. They leave their bins out for weeks blocking our access way ...we constantly keep moving them back....so the window cleaners can get through to clean our windows.

AIBU to leave bin at the back at the end of our pathway (which they like to block off with their bins as well). Or should I give in and just move bin to front every week and their bins off our path as I go round? There's no room at the front because again of all the cars. Scared to talk to them as I'm so angry about it I will probably say something I regret.

So I've reported them to council for running a building business in a residential area. I'm so angry about it all.

I dunno, getting upset over the location of a bin seems a bit ott.

Keep putting your bin where it's most convenient for you, as long as it's on YOUR property. Is this path you mention yours, or council owned? If it's yours, then put your bin there, and the neighbour can get fucked. But if it's council owned, that's more difficult and you'll have to share the space with the neighbour.

I think the massive work vans is a separate issue. I feel you there though, I've got a neighbour the same. 2 huge vans that really aren't suitable for long-term parking in a cul-de-sac.

need a diagram....

theeyeofdoe · 16/09/2024 11:31

As long as it’s on your property, you can keep your bin where you like. Move it back.

TheShellBeach · 16/09/2024 11:33

Just move it back to where you want it to be.

Noshowlomo · 16/09/2024 11:35

Diagram please!

angellinaballerina7 · 16/09/2024 11:35

Just put it back and if you catch them
doing it, calmly but firmly say its to stay there as it’s your property.

God help you when you actually have something to get upset about if this your reaction to a bloody bin being moved

Ffs grow-up its a bin.

UsuallyHappyfemale · 16/09/2024 11:44

@zingally it is our access way not council owned. They have come round and apologized in the past for 'accidentally' obstructing it with their skip'....they moved skips and massive vans about like a building site. So they know it's our pathway and don't care. I'm beginning not to care either. It's just going to go on and on and on constantly moving bins, bikes and other stuff off of our access way. Really frustrated about it all.

Thanks for your reply anyway.

I would not want to live next door to you op.
You come across as an angry woman that makes a mountain out of a mole heap about anything.

ButterAsADip · 16/09/2024 11:50

we constantly keep moving them back...

So you’re allowed to move their bins but they’re not allowed to move yours?

You sound a bit pathetic by reporting them. Though you seem to like drama?

Reading comprehension not your forte?

It was abundantly clear that the neighbours are obstructing access to her property with THEIR bins so that’s why she’s having to move them.

If they’re running a business from a residential address without permission, that definitely needs reporting. Sounds like they think they can do what they want and that you’ll simply suck it up.

Well fuck that. Get angry and make it clear that you won’t put up and shut up.

MouseofCommons · 16/09/2024 12:04

We do need a diagram.

I have scummy neighbours like yours who have never taken their bins in and leave them on the path 24/7. Hate them.

icouldholditwithacobweb · 16/09/2024 12:06

I detest inconsiderate neighbours. Do what you will.

Xis · 16/09/2024 12:07

There’s a reason why some people are constantly treated badly. It’s because they allow themselves to be. From what I understand of the original post, the neighbours are moving OP’s bin from her property so they can obstruct her pathway with their vehicles. That in itself is disrespectful and I wouldn’t allow anyone to treat me that way. I’m not a little insect you can just swat aside. However, the main reason for not ignoring this behaviour is that it sets a standard that they can treat you poorly in more important matters.

Don’t listen to anyone that says you should roll over and accept bad behaviour, OP! It’s no wonder some women always pick and stick with poor men. They’re so used to being treated badly.

Xis · 16/09/2024 12:10

By poor men I mean poorly-behaved men. Poor male specimens.
