To be sickened by a couple who piles on the PDA every time one of them gets up to go to the toilet?

I’m currently in a restaurant, and there’s a couple at a nearby table who are going overboard with the PDA. Every time one of them gets up to go to the toilet, they kiss, hug, and basically act like they won’t see each other again for years! It’s making the atmosphere uncomfortable, and I feel like I can’t enjoy my meal without being subjected to it.

AIBU to think this level of PDA is just too much in a public place?

Why?

You're in a restaurant and you've spent half an hour on a chat forum.

You might as well have just sat home with a takeaway.

My comment was in jest, just trying to pass the time while dining alone. I had a book with me before I started posting and am now using my phone. Didn’t realise that was a problem.

It's not a problem, it's just weird.

And unless you're eating and typing, the service must be shit.

I think maybe it just feels like five mins to you. Because basically you have told us In 30 mins, they’ve spent 15 in the toilet and 7 kissing, so less than 7 mins at their table.

Alright time police! I get that it might seem like my timing is off. It feels like a lot more when you’re sitting right next to it. Regardless of the exact timing, the PDA has been distracting and they’ve gotten up multiple times.

Yeah they’re going to the toilet for lines and the affection is a cover up for handing the bag between them for sure 🤣

Fair enough, it might seem weird to some. The service has been fine, I’m just trying to make the most of the time alone. Everyone has their own way of passing the time!

We used to double date with a couple like this. It was cringe inducing stuff.

Yeah, I can imagine how uncomfortable that would have been. It’s definitely one of those situations where too much PDA makes things awkward for everyone around

I’m about to leave now, as I finished my food a little while ago. They’ve kissed again, and the lady has just gotten up . This place closes at 11,so hopefully, they achieve whatever it is they’re aiming for before then

You're a single woman, and she wants you to know her man is not available. Stop looking at them and she won't think you're after him (or after a threesome!)

You do seem VERY invested in this couple. It's a bit odd!

You could go over to their table, announce you're popping to the loo, and request the requisite preparatory snog, which is clearly an integral part of local toileting rituals. Then tell us what happens.

Sounds like they are those insecure, jealous, toxic, controling couple.
Just be glad you don’t know them and you only have to suffer their show once…

I am dining alone, which might explain why I’ve noticed it more. But even then, it’s hard not to see when it’s happening right in front of my line of sight every time one of them moves. I get that a bit of affection is normal, but the intensity of it each time just seems excessive in a restaurant setting.

but then its subjective on what levels are acceptable depending on the people themselves etc ?

Yeah, they're doing coke in the loos.
