Boys Clothes

We recently had a little boy and is it just me who is fed up of dinosaur prints/tractor prints?! Everything I see is bright with huge dinosaurs on them etc.

Also, It seems most gifts we get given is super bright with loads of designs on them. Is this just baby boy clothes in general?! I’ve bought some nice plain stuff from Next but also am struggling to find non bright non printed items! Or just my old DDs clothes 😁

Or am I just being too fussy!

I have 3 boys, aged between 4 and 10.
I too, find the character and real bright clothing with cars or diggers on too much. Don't know why, just do.
I also usually find that girls have a way bigger section for clothing in most stores/online compared to the boys which annoys me 😂

I usually shop in H&M or George Asda for them.
Zara on the rare occasion if I see something nice! Matalan can also be good too, along with Tesco.
My eldest is quite sporty, so Decathlon is another for us on occasions!

Kind of. Definitely harder just to grab something from the supermarket though, although Sainsbury’s or Morrisons are sometimes quite nice.

DS has lovely clothes from Joules and Monsoon, not cheap though. And JoJo.

JoJo clothes wash up so badly, I've been really disappointed with their clothes.

Sameshitdifferentdayx · 07/09/2024 21:07

To add, when they were babies, Morrisons was one of my favourites for boys clothes 🥰

BuenosAiresTango · 07/09/2024 21:09

Also so many clothes with fox prints! I don’t want diggers, dinosaurs, cars or foxes damn it!

but so many good suggestions on this thread - my online shopping baskets are getting full!

I’ve got an 8mth old DGS, he’s never worn anything with dinosaurs on. I did buy him some dungarees with diggers and tractors on, but apart from that he’s had mainly neutral colours because DDIL is thrifty and wants to keep the clothes incase she has another one. I didn’t even buy him anything blue, and then it was plain, until he was 6mths old.

No more DCs for us for sure!

This is quite sweet. I find Matalan a bit hit and miss, a lot of their stuff has dinosaurs, bright patterns and foxes, so you have to sift through.

Oh that is gorgeous. EXACTLY the kind of thing I was looking for!

I love dinasours clothes.

Arrivapercy · 07/09/2024 21:33

Children like bright clothing?

I detest children dressed in "chic" instagrammable neutrals like boring little fashion plates. It's so tacky.

Some people may like neutrals. And may find bright colours and dinosaurs “tacky”. (I don’t, I just don’t personally like them!)

As a newborn I’m not sure he “likes” any particular clothing type.

There are masses and masses of dull plain neutral babygros. Loads. Multipacks on m&s and next etc. Its really not hard.

The reality is most people think plain clothes are boring. What is in the shops is demand led - they sell what people want

Babychewtoy · 07/09/2024 21:44

H&M and George (both online) are my most frequented shops for baby clothes. The size at both can be quite variable though so check they will fit before you take the tags off.

Will do! Thank you. A shame this thread brought out some rather unkind comments about my personal taste!

Ignore the comments on your taste, and what is also my taste. Let it go over your head!!
I do tend to like the more neutrals but my boys also do wear baby pink, purple, pastels etc as they're older now! Just not with big cars, diggers, characters on, and that's perfectly OK!
Just like others that do like that kind of thing.. perfectly OK too 🥰

quitefranklyabsurd · 07/09/2024 22:07

You’ll be grateful for a very bright coat when they’re in the park mind! Could always spot my son in his bright orange coat over friends with children in blue/green coats ect.

Classicstripewastaken · 07/09/2024 22:12

Mango kids is our favourite. No dinosaur prints and lots of fairly neutral rather than the bright green, orange, mustard etc mixes.

Oh I love mango for my daughter, I didn’t know they had a boys section - I shall get googling immediately!

Jools Oliver has a range called Little Bird which I think you can get online at Next. They are bright and lots of fun.

FeedingThem · 07/09/2024 18:37

Most of it isn't though, it's plain or animals. Yes some Disney, weird amount of Lilo & Stitch (I don't get why it's still so popular), Peter Rabbit etc but lots of simple stuff. I actually found in harder to buy bright colours that op finds in abundance

It's because Stitch is loved in Japan and has huge following there so it spills over to here along with the manga type cartoons.

Putmeinsummer · 07/09/2024 22:26

My DS just ruins every top in under 30 seconds so it matters not.

How ridiculous to assume all children like bright clothing.
I personally find it more tacky to dress a child in avacado print leggings with a fox jumper. So try hard. Thank god we’re all different eh?

OP, hope you find some lovely clothes for your son.
