To try to quit mumsnet

Does anyone else find this site incredibly addictive but also kind of toxic?

There's so much negativity I feel like it isn't doing my mental health any good and it also makes me really, really unproductive.

But I have tried to stop coming on here - including using a browser extension that blocks the site - and I always end up coming back.

Anyone else?

nah, mumsnet is just not interesting enough to hold my attention for too long. i log on every couple of months and waste an evening browsing then forget about it until next time I get my laptop out.

i used to be totally addicted to Plenty Of Fish Forums back in the day... they were fast paced and a much smaller community so it was easier to develop insight to the posters views and style of writing. mumsnet is too big to be able to get to know any particular posters so, for me, there is no reason to return on a regular basis

I don't blame you, I find some of the posters unbelievably argumentative and just downright nasty at times. I do comment but I don't really post or ask for advice anymore. I was in a quite horrible relationship and posted about something that happened and some of the replies were just horrible and made me feel like shit.

I think what's difficult is most OPs could take a level of constructive criticism or advice but I feel like some mumsnetters enjoy giving quite belittling and smart attitude replies. That said there is many many lovely mumsnetters that far out weigh the bad.
