How messy is your house right now

Just curious if I’m good, bad or average.

My house is tidyish but not overly clean imo. I go through the motions but can’t say my house is perfect.

As most of the cleaning falls or me I don’t allow dh or kids to have crap floating around. Clutter got to me a few years so I created a system where I put any clutter on the dining table if I see it. At the end of the night if it hasn’t been put away it gets chucked. So the rooms never get crazy as I have bins and storage for almost everything.

But the woodwork could do with some hot soapy water, the grout could do with a steam clean and everything just needs a good old dust.

There’s a few jobs (hob, bin wiping and stairs) I’ve given up on as I’m hoping someone will have the initiative. They haven’t funnily enough. Washing gets done but I’ve stopped folding and just put them in piles on stairs and scream for owners to take up.

Id give myself a 6.8/10.

What about you?

Love hearing how normal other people are as SM would have you believing otherwise

Please share your tips! Particularly for the kitchen/dining areas

Only have adults in the household 🤣

I planned the kitchen and utility so that EVERYTHING has a proper home, I don’t have any appliances on the worktops…because the house is quite open plan, if there’s anything on the kitchen worktops it makes the whole place feel untidy…finally getting myself into the mindset of “don’t put it down, put it away”…I do laundry every day so there’s never a backlog, and once it’s dry it’s put away (I only iron linen🤣) so there are never any piles of clean laundry hanging about…
I’m far from being a minimalist, but don’t have a lot of ornaments and stuff on surfaces, just because that’s how it’s ended up

We have a rental inspection tomorrow so my house is at its quarterly ‘you could eat off the floor’ status. Come Friday it’ll be back to its ‘we have two dogs, please don’t even look at the floor’ status 🤦‍♀️

@Jeezitneverends only have adults in the house is the best tip!

I'm doing laundry 1-2 times a day, and STILL there is always a backlog of my two kids' clothes and sheets.

My children (severe learning disabilities) have been on the absolute rampage today. It's made me so stressed tbh. Mattresses thrown off beds (more than once), food thrown, toys thrown, my mug thrown at me which smashed against a wall.

We have to keep it pretty tidy and clean otherwise it really would become a problem with the amount of mess they create. I'm pretty sad about it today.

The mess ain't going nowhere, fuck it off till tomorrow and go do something for yourself. Also parent of a child with a learning disability.

My house is a shit tip. The more I look into the expected PDA diagnosis for my DD, the more I recognise traits in myself. I have doom piles everywhere. Bags of stuff shoved in cupboards. I often start a blitz but then get overwhelmed and can't finish. I need help but am too ashamed to bring someone into my home when it's such a state. So I start a blitz and....

Our house is always clean and tidy now. Our kids are older so they don't really make b much mess anymore and they clean up after themselves. We also have a cleaner twice a week. We do have dogs but we have a room to shower them in before they come in the rest of the house if they've been in mud

When the kids were younger, it could get untidy with all their stuff and we lived in a smaller house then. We have loads of space now which makes it a lot easier with lots of storage space as well as having more time.
