Waited in today for a delivery, I chose Next Day (for £6!) as I need to wear what I’ve ordered to a wedding reception tonight because nothing else fits me at 6 months pregnant 😤

Received an email at 3pm saying that nobody was in but I was in the kitchen at the time, so right by the door! Nobody knocked or rang the bell (they didn’t even come through the gate!) and the dog didn’t bark either, so I know nobody attempted delivery. Now my parcel won’t be delivered until Monday and I’ve now got two hours to find something in my wardrobe that’s going to fit around my belly and not make me look like a sack of spuds 😭

I’m having a shit time of things atm and was looking forward to wearing something pretty 😫 not the end of the world in the grand scheme of things but I just wanted a wee rant!

The RM tracking changed to read ‘you told us your address was not accepting deliveries’ or words to that effect.

How many people would ever want to do this in reality? If you're going away on holiday, you wouldn't order parcels to arrive when you aren't there, and letters/cards can just wait on your doormat until you return. Absolute disgrace.

The actual wording they use is this.

"Your parcel has reached your local delivery office. We've received a request not to deliver mail to the property your item is addressed to today"

We only seem to get post delivered once or twice a week here. A relative sent me a card which apparently included some personal, irreplaceable stuff of my late dad's inside last Sunday and it hasn't arrived. She doesn't understand signed for/tracked etc, she just put two stamps on it and put it in the post box. I'm really concerned it's got lost.

Yes we don't get daily deliveries either, just batches a couple of times a week, often in the late afternoon Someone told me that there actually isn't a postman assigned to our round at the moment so we get different people all the time which makes things worse as it's a complicated round with many blocks of flats on the same named road.

I'd certainly be more than happy to use a courier for postal deliveries in future if they start doing this for a reasonable price. At the moment we can send packets locally but it's pretty expensive.

Parcel turned up an hour after we left home for the second event we were going to yesterday Envy they left it in the garage (per the instructions on the sign we have had on the gate for the 3 years we’ve lived here!) so it obviously didn’t matter that ‘nobody was in’ on that occasion…

I’m now convinced that nobody came to the house on Saturday at all! RM replied to my complaint today to ask whether a card was left, I confirmed that it was not. If they argue it, my neighbour has a Ring doorbell that captures my driveway and I am petty enough to ask her for the footage that covers the time they supposedly attempted delivery. Neighbour is very Ring happy so I imagine will be delighted to help Grin

RM no longer leaves cards on the first delivery attempt. So they would not have left you one anyways.

My local depot struggles so much, they mark things as 'delivered' knowing they wil ldeloiver the next day, or 'address unavailable' for special delivery or RM24 etc, so it looks like customer is at fault, although it's them not coping.
