What would you do with £10k? Right now, if you won 10k, what would you do with it?

£2k Start a pension for DD
£5k Holiday
£2k Payment to mortgage
£200 Dinner out somewhere fancy
£500 Pay for all the back to school clothing and books for DD (going into sixth form, costing me a fortune!)
£300 spa day with massage

£500 to cover Sixth form?! That's absolutely bonkers! What on earth have they requested the students have?

I'd put it into my LISA

Needmorelego · 30/08/2024 14:17

Driving lessons.
A car.
Relevant insurance etc for a year.
The rest in the bank (my savings account not regular account).

DaisyChain505 · 30/08/2024 14:30

Pay off the remainder of our wedding and honeymoon.

@YellowphantGrey well, she's doing history, politics and French. The books for history and politics have come to £160 so far (I didn't get my act together quickly enough to find them second hand). So there will be French to come.

Plus folders, paper, dividers for each subject. She'll use all of the pens, pencil case, laptop from last year.

New outfits - dress code is business dress. Skirts/trousers/dresses plus blazer. She doesn't possess any of these, so we've had to buy new. Mostly New Look, H&M etc but quickly adds up.

She's re-using old school bag, shoes from last year, etc.

And then there'll be the trips - going to be a costly 2 years but I console myself that she didn't do any trips Y7-9 because of covid, so I saved a fortune there.

Pay off a small loan. The monthly payments would free up loads of ££. Clear a couple of small credit cards. Have a holiday!

Cherrysoup · 30/08/2024 15:45

Dog had a very expensive essential procedure so I’d top up my savings that I had to use.

BlueMum16 · 30/08/2024 16:26

Pub and book a holiday

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 30/08/2024 17:32

Buy a new car and use the remaining to pay off debts.

Awfulaunty · 30/08/2024 17:55

Get a new kitten. This is non-negotiable.

With the rest the dream answer would be to go to Canada for a month. The real answer is put it in my pension.

JaceLancs · 30/08/2024 18:48

Buy a newer car

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 30/08/2024 19:08

I'd like a breast reduction, but i also need the kitchen tarted up a bit.

Luckily I've only had to buy 3 books for English. The school provide the books for the other subjects.

Our uniform, I got the sweatshirts free, need to get trousers and shoes and bag.

Geography trip will be the killer £3500 for Iceland for 5 days.

Ohdearyme72 · 30/08/2024 20:23

Fix the house

HoppityBun · 30/08/2024 20:24

Dental treatment. It won’t cover it, but it would help. I wish it weren’t necessary

Wrennyjenwren · 30/08/2024 20:25

Disney Florida. Without a doubt.
Then again, you'd need much more than that.

WitchyBits · 30/08/2024 21:05

That would pay off my mortgage so definitely that!
