to be terrified about going to see Taylor Swift on Thursday?

after recent news reports of attacks on
women and girls and the cancellation of 3 of her shows in Vienna due to a planned terror attack, I'm so scared about going on Thursday. We've been so excited all year and it just feels so worrying at the moment, with the atmosphere in the country.
I've been planning alternative ways to get back to our hotel room following the
concert. but ultimately it will
be futile trying to avoid crowds as a stadium full of people (women and girls mostly) empties out.
Anyone else going? Any tips to relax and just enjoy it?

You're more likely to have a car crash on the way than something happen at the venue. I know that's not a cheery thought, but trying to make a point about the statistics 🤣

thanks guys and yes,
important to show her that it's ok to go into London and not to model fear and anxiety. She's a young adult btw and prone to anxiety herself, so I don't want to exacerbate that.

Maybe leave before the last song? The crowds will be much less.

You’re more likely to die falling down the stairs. It’s going to be awesome! I can’t wait.

are you getting the tube out or a bus/car/uber? I've heard that the slightly further away tube station is a good call,
will be easier to get
on the tube from there as quieter apparently

OP if you're prepared to walk then definitely do this. Took us 1.5 hrs to get to the tube after seeing Taylor in June. Really good crowd control but took and age to get back to the Airbnb ....... have an amazing time....she is absolutely incredible xx

Nooooo you will NOT want to leave before the last song!

DebateWithMoi · 12/08/2024 21:32

Op, you're safer there than most other places especially after Vienna. The security will be ramped up beyond belief. Have fun and enjoy it.

Or get the tube one stop northbound and then change to southbound tube there...still a long queue to get in the station but no queue to get onto the tube.

Do not leave before the last bloody song. Don't be silly. There's confetti, fireworks, it's lovely. That's what I've heard. I'm more curious about the silence on TS's social media. Not a peep since the cancellations.

whatwhatwhot · 12/08/2024 22:00

We left during the last didn't. Glad we did. No queues . No crowds

whatwhatwhot · 12/08/2024 22:00

Song

MayonnaiseOnMyChips · 12/08/2024 22:00

It will probably be the safest place to be at this moment in time 🤣 the security will be through the roof!

GellerYeller · 12/08/2024 22:10

Agree with @Machiavellian don’t miss the last song! Silence on social media is likely to have been recommended by law enforcement/intelligence agencies. Her dancers and Paramore(support act) are all very active on social media and there’s been total silence from them too.

Have a fabulous time.

Do NOT leave before the last song, it's epic!

Smc4 · 12/08/2024 22:26

Hi I understand your feelings, I'm
Currently in Austria having had our TS concert cancelled this weekend. Such a disappointment (but so glad the attack was foiled) What I would say is the Vienna stadium is very vulnerable compared to Wembley. It's really open to public all around and essentially in the middle of a big public park. Wembley is very different and no cars are able to get near the outdoor crowds. I was at a June Wembley show and it was one of the loveliest days , full of joy and happy swifties. I'd have loved to go again!! I'm sure Wembley is going to have even more security (and everyone going into stadium passes a metal detector anyway) -I am in no doubt you'll have the best evening.

What a shitty thing to say on a post where the OP is clearly anxious.

unospaghetto · 12/08/2024 23:11

Go and enjoy it.
On a practical note make sure phones are charged or bring a power bank/charger so you can keep in touch with others and use maps to get you to the tube station.

At large events I never rush to get out, it’s a waste of time. Might as well spend it sitting down than queuing to get out.

Raspberrymoon49 · 12/08/2024 23:17

Terrorists want us paralysed by fear and paranoia, don’t let them win

DamnYerEyes · 24/08/2024 01:16

@reache hope you went and had a lovely time. I was there too!
