To go bra less in this hot weather?

BurntBroccoli · 12/08/2024 13:23

Not at work today but have just come back from town. First thing I did was to rip my bra off as it was making me 10 times hotter. The relief was palpable and this was a wire free one that is usually reasonably comfortable.

I'm 56, menopausal, wear an e cup, and have sensory issues. AIBU to go without one? Or if not please recommend a comfy bra that is suitable to wear in hot weather.

Heck no way could I do this. I would get seriously Betty Swoobs in this heat.
My underboob would be drenched so I keep them tucked up in their bra until bedtime!

But whatever makes you comfortable do it!

Was thinking of putting some Odaban and Sudacrem to stop the sweating and potential chafing of the underboob.

But skin on skin creates the perfect sweaty conditions for sweaty skin sores. Not worth it in the long run. I’m sitting here with 36H , hating the underwires but going no bra is not really an option

OhmygodDont · 12/08/2024 13:33

I wouldn’t it would be sweat hell.

Keepingongoing · 12/08/2024 13:47

If you are comfortable going without a bra, why not? I find wearing bra is usually more comfortable because it mops up the sweat that I’d otherwise get from skin on skin.
I wear the Royce Impact Free sports bra year round as it’s 100% cotton. It has a really wide underband, too, which is much more comfortable. Also recommend, if you are not short of £s, an American company called Decent Exposures. They will make you a customised and very comfortable bra/ bralette with no underwires, to your own measurements, from various fabrics including cotton. I wear one in the evening as an alternative to bras.

Do it, I am 34f and currently braless wfh. I am so much more comfortable without one on.

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 12/08/2024 13:53

Bras don't bother me, I wear them most of the time but not always at home. Do whatever makes you happy, nobody knows or cares (unless you have close neighbours and you're planning on trampolining in the garden this afternoon).

BobbyBiscuits · 12/08/2024 13:56

I shed my bra pretty much permanently when I stopped working. I used to get horrendous costocondritis for 6 weeks at a time at least twice a year. Have never had it since!
But yeah, underboob sweat is a thing. I guess they're a bit saggier, but they're quite small so it's worth it for the immense comfort!

That made to measure sounds like heaven! I was actually just looking at the history of the bra and how we ended up wearing the designs of today.

Might try and sew myself a 2 pocket handkerchief and pink ribbon version a la Caresse Crosby.

I highly recommend nursing bras, the soft ones without clips almost like a crop top. I am bf now but I do feel so much comfier in them than regular bras!

MeinKraft · 12/08/2024 14:02

I think I've found the answer. The ta ta towel Grin

I haven't worn a bra since I started WFH during covid. Fins them unbearable now.

Not massive boobs though, 30DD.

Now that looks fabulously comfy. Get it patented!

Great idea! Never really thought of those.

It's entirely up to you what you find comfortable but for me I have to 'lift and separate' in hot weather - braless gives me sweaty underboob, and croptops give me sweaty cleavage. I need mine to be held by a bra away from each other and away from my body.

MaterCogitaVera · 12/08/2024 14:25

I love M&S bras without underwire for casual days. They tend to give a bit of a uniboob, so not terribly flattering under a nice dress etc., but so much more comfortable than an underwire and help avoid sweat and chafing. I also have sensory issues, and get a tiny bit anxious even thinking about an underwire 😅

Me too - I'm finding it baffling that women are finding it more comfortable in hot weather braless.

Same with nightclothes. I'm cooler in a cotton nighty than I am in the nude.

To answer OPs question though, do what makes you comfortable. Doesn't matter what others think unless you're swinging your nipples in their face.

That won't work. I'd shower and put a top with built in bra on....38gg ....

Glitterblue · 12/08/2024 17:19

I hate the feeling of not having a bra on, I feel very “undressed”. I’m never uncomfortable wearing one - I think people must be in the wrong size if they’re that uncomfortable.

WorriedRelative · 12/08/2024 17:21

You need a better bra.

A good bra will lift and separate your boobs minimising under boob and between boob sweat.

Going braless unless your boobs are tiny and perky will just make you more sweaty and risk rashes and stuff

annonymousme · 12/08/2024 17:42

I haven’t worn a bra in about 3 years 🤷‍♀️

MixedCouple2 · 12/08/2024 17:43

I used to do this. Size 10 - B cup get home from work and take it off right away. Especially in hot weather.

Bettedaviseyes111 · 12/08/2024 17:48

I think if you’re comfortable without a bra go for it. I do or don’t depending on how I feel.

Boux Avenue lounge bras are great though, super comfortable.

soupfiend · 12/08/2024 17:49

I dont know why people are wearing wired bras if they dont like wires, I have never worn (apart from when just starting out and then finding I couldnt cope) wired bras, I currently wear the Doreen (not glamourous or sexy no) and also a full cup (like right up to my neck) bra from M+S. Also not glam and also means I cant wear low v neck tops as the bra is so high, but I need it due to a lot of skin. Plus mine grew downward from the minute they started so never been able to stand up on their own
