To just want plastic straws back!

Lighthearted - mostly!

I’m so sick of paper straws turning to mush before a drink is even finished, they just aren’t fit for purpose. Add in the awful wooden cutlery that you now get (I want my salad to actually taste like salad, not wood!!) and the cardboard takeaway containers which begin to disintegrate as soon as they touch food and all of a sudden I’m reconsidering whether the planet is really worth saving…

I’m joking of course but surely I’m not the only one who feels this way? There have to be better alternatives out there than paper, wood & cardboard that just seem to ruin everything!

Hate hate paper straws. I've seen some boba places do eco friendly straws, they aren't plastic and not paper, but feel like plastic and don't disintegrate. Can't understand why many other places aren't using this alternative!! The paper boxes, aren't fit for purpose, my kebab is hanging on for dear life in those! Earth is defo not worth saving, those pesky ancestors of ours destroyed our earth and we are now suffering - light hearted of course...

We went to America last year and the single use plastic and the like was ASTOUNDING. I’m sure other countries are the same. And yet little old England is trying to save the planet with paper straws and attaching the fecking bottle lid to the bottle.

Exactly. I travel a lot - it always makes me laugh when people spend hours in the uk recycling a few jars to 'save the planet'.
The planet is quite a large place!

I want screw-top plastic bottle caps that aren't attached by a bit of plastic back!

Totally agree. It's pathetic really.

The lids attached to the bottle is an EU measure that we don't have to subscribe too. It annoys the hell out of me that having bloody gone through the hell of Brexit supposedly for amongst other reasons to be free of mindless EU bureaucracy - here we are with these stupid tethered lids.

I take great pleasure in breaking the tether and triming the lid so it can be used by everyone - including people in the house with mobility/dexterity issues.

I've seen a few threads on this issue here. I don't know how it isn't in breach of the equality act tb honest - disability and age.
