Why is the slaughter of Hindus in Bangladeshi not being reported?

Twitter is alive with the most awful reporting of Hindus being slaughtered / raped. Children and women before men. Zoo animals being tortured and killed.

But missing from mainstream reporting? 💔

OP posts:

Who is killing the Hindus?

It's a war. The latest iteration kicked off following atrocities committed by Hamas and supporters on 7th October 2023. If any other country had been attacked like Israel was on 7th October 2023, and people taken as hostages, the world would expect that country to respond with force. But Israel is held to a different standard by the "Free Palestine" protesters and their many supporters. You really have to ask, why is that?

Both sides are responsible for war crimes. But, again, if Israel is trying to commit genocide then they're particularly bad at it if the population of Palestine is going up, and not down. That's just illogical.

What utter nonsense. The appaling attack at that music festival does not warrant wholesale murder by a state on innocent men, women and children in bombing runs. It does not warrant starving people of food and water as well as medical treatment.

That would be like the UK turning off water and blocking food going into certain parts of Ireland, then bombing the place irrespective of who is there.

No one cares unless it is Palestine. There's a whole topic devoted to it.

I wonder why

cupcaske123 · 08/08/2024 11:15

I see you live under a rock. Palestinians are currently being starved and slaughtered and Israel is under investigation for genocide.

Oh give it up

Palestine shouldn't elect terrorists as leaders and start wars they can't win.

Lentilweaver · 08/08/2024 17:58

How has this become about Palestine?

More reporting emerging now of attacks on Hindus. www.independent.co.uk/asia/south-asia/rahul-ananda-bangladesh-mobs-hindu-attack-b2592472.html

Because the slaughter of innocent children, babies and the unborn by any means is appalling.

Responsible U.K. press (and other decent news orgs) only report when they have 2 credible sources, we saw last week what happens when a "news" org reports without verifying the source.

Rumour is not sufficient to report such atrocities however I would be very surprised if the main press agencies were not attempting to get verified accounts from the area as long as their own journalists are safe to do so.

Sdfrejjhg · 08/08/2024 18:20

It's really sad news and yes, Hindus are very peaceful loving people who don't cause trouble. They don't make an agenda of everything and don't cry victim while committing crime. They are being slaughtered in Bangladesh by Islamist majority and no one seems to be raising voices. They don't have to resources to jump on a boat and land in EU for every little excuse.

Sdfrejjhg · 08/08/2024 18:21

It's similar case as Armenian genocide of Christians or Nigerian genocide of Christians by islamic majority. No body talks about it, neither does any pressure covers it.

Sdfrejjhg · 08/08/2024 18:24

Also, why some of these posters are riled over this and derailing this thread by posting about Palestine. Media is covering enough of it, please don't derail this thread, it's an important issue being discussed here, go start your another thread rather than hijacking this one here.

Sdfrejjhg · 08/08/2024 18:26

The sad part is the same people who cry foul over Palestine are the ones denying genocide of Hindus, I wonder what's the agenda and what's making them do that, how do you justify genocide of people of one religion while crying foul for others. All lives matter equally!

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 08/08/2024 18:30
  1. Jews can't be blamed
  2. Some groups get a more favorable press in the UK
WeeOrcadian · 08/08/2024 18:58

TinkerTailorSoldier · 08/08/2024 10:15

Because Hindus are generally peace-loving people and don't have enough of a voice for themselves, and aren't great at mustering the victim narrative to get other loud voices to speak up

Snort

Course they are

Read some news from India and then come back

kirbykirby · 08/08/2024 19:29

Are there going to be mass marches against the genocide of Hindus then?

Hunglikeapolevaulter · 08/08/2024 19:45

Are there going to be mass marches against the genocide of Hindus then?

I think we know there's not a change of that happening.

Bollihobs · 08/08/2024 19:51

thecatsthecats · 08/08/2024 14:15

One of the first exercises in my seminars on genocide was to come up with a defence and denial of genocide.

And this post is EXACTLY the genocidal denial playbook.

I'm part Jewish btw.

Can you be "part Jewish" ? Or 'part' any religion really? How does that work?

I get my news and information from a variety of Indian news sources and a wide network of people I know there. You need to get out of the anti Hindu, anti Modi, anti BJP echo chamber created by the likes of the BBC, Guardian etc

Oh do shut up with that nonsense! No religion, race or colour etc is how you describe the Hindus because they are all built up from the same species - human beings. Who are all, more or less, designed to be the same.

OchreShoes · 09/08/2024 10:15

The slaughter of Nigerian Christians has been going on for a long while but no one cares as it's not promoted in the media.

People only get riled up when they believe what the media tells them to believe.

Exactly this.
There is so much going on in the world at any given time, but people only get worked up about what becomes mainstream news.

The book 'Manufacturing Consent' is really good to read about this.

A friend had a go at me the other day for not having detailed knowledge of something currently trending, but hadn't heard of some of the goings on elsewhere.

Yes. Human tend to behave in a very warlike manner, en masse. Also, poor men fight rich people's wars.

twomanyfrogsinabox · 09/08/2024 10:25

There was a reason the separate areas of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were created when India became independent. Religious differences quickly became very violent and people were 'encouraged' to move to a safe area for their religion. And it's still a problem, as usual all in the name of religion.

Dotjones · 09/08/2024 10:29

I think the main reasons this isn't widely reported is because for the most part people in this country won't be particularly interested. Violence/slaughter in Asia is a bit like famine in Africa: it's a long way away, most people in this country have no intention of ever going there and have no family connection. (Clearly in numerical terms lots of people do but in percentage terms the majority don't.)

News isn't reported on the basis of how important or worthy a story is, it's reported so as to maximise viewers/readers/listeners. Even for a self-proclaimed impartial organisation like the BBC which doesn't rely on advertising, the key metric is how many people consume what they put out. If the BBC news channel got zero viewers, it would be a prime target for budget cuts.

On a personal level, what do I care what happens in Asia? How much does the average person on the street in Dhaka follow news stories about events in Britain? Some probably do but I doubt they really care about events here unless they have relatives here.

There's so much trouble in the world that there's no point worrying about what is happening thousands of miles away. There's enough shit to deal with here already.

You clearly have no knowledge of world geopolitics or religious history, so you can get back in your box.
