People playing music, singing, praying, conversation on loudspeaker, Duolingo pinging, whistling, STFU. There are so many of them!

Ear plugs or headphones all the way

I was called "rude" once for asking a couple who were watching a loud action movie on public transport if they had headphones they could use as the noise was disturbing the other passengers. They said there were no signs saying they couldn't and that I was rude.

(There were also no signs saying that I couldn't stand on the table, whip off my clothes and do the Macarena, but I didn't have the nerve to test that one.)

God almighty people get stupider. No signs to say I can't take a big poo on the train floor but I assume they'd rather I didn't.

It's just a culture clash. There are cultures where it's perfectly normal to have a shit in a train carriage, and the British are laughed at for being so uptight about these things.

I'm in Canada right now and there are signs on public transport and in parks about not playing loud music, avoiding heavy scents on public transport, keeping an eye out for anyone needing a seat rather than just staring at one's phone, etc.
I was in France earlier and noone played films on iPads on trains. People were reminded not to take class on the train.

Its strange that people need to be told the blindingly obvious dont you think?
