To want my leg of lamb back?

Whacky neighbour strikes again.

She is a nice woman. A bit eccentric.

She saw a dog roaming the estate and thought it was mine. It wasn't. She panicked, she said, and reached for my door and went in, shouting my name

My actual dog, a very low prey drive GH, approached her wagging. Luckily, he didn't see her as a threat and harm her.

My neighbour said she panicked then and tried a dog treat but the roaming dog wasn't interested. She then went into my fridge and got out a LEG OF LAMB 😒

She is seen on video camera attached to the house, waving down the dog with the leg of lamb in hand, waving it like she is in Ollivander's wand shop

The dog wonders off elsewhere and she's seen again throwing the leg of lamb into the nearby hedges.

AIBU to want it back or paid for? Or is she too unhinged to ask this? Not sure what to do. She has posted a picture of the dog on the estate FB group. No claims for the dog yet... who on footage and in her photo, is not a GH. It's very clearly a tiny terrier type 🙄

As I say, she is a really friendly neighbour but somewhat OTT, dramatic and loud. She has a 19 year old daughter who is lovely. And a polite and very normal 15 year old son. Both nothing like her loud and overly familiar ways

My door was left open by me as I had run 3 doors down to give my lovely neighbour some bits I was passing onto her

I have no idea why she would lie or try and enter my house. She genuinely looked like she was trying to get the dog

Sounds like an idea for a comedy sketch....

Ah just leave her. You probably owe her £20 for the comedy value of living near her.

Fullyflavoured · 03/08/2024 18:57

🙄

Milkshakebreaks · 03/08/2024 18:57

Not a comedy sketch. I genuinely don't know how to approach this as she is really strange. Again, very nice but then does something really bizarre and odd. Gets angry if the conversation is moved away from her side of a similar story etc. Her kids are very normal.

It is just very odd behaviour

No. That was a different neighbour

Riiight.

Have you tried punching her in the face? I think that's a reasonable response to lamb burglary.

Yeah I would ask her to replace it - she must understand you can't take other people's property.

She threw your leg of lamb into a hedge? Why not just put it back in the fridge?
I think you need to lock your door. This seems absolutely bizarre!?

When were you planning on cooking the leg of lamb? For who and what was the occasion?

How were you cooking the spuds? If no spuds, what else were you serving with the lamb? Gravy - juices or granules?

Sorry @despiteappearance , I didn't mean to quote you. I got distracted checking the lock on my fridge instead of my door.

This road sounds full of entertainment

vipersnest1 · 03/08/2024 19:11

Can we see a screenshot?
(You can blur out the neighbour's face to protect her privacy if you want).

Is this a serious reply? You actually believe this enough to make that suggestion? Shock

Bonjovispjs · 03/08/2024 19:12

Lock your door when you go out, even if it's only for a few minutes.

Lilysgoneshopping · 03/08/2024 19:13

Could you not retrieve it from the bush and swill it under the tap? I would!!
Waste not want not 😁
