To want my leg of lamb back?

Whacky neighbour strikes again.

She is a nice woman. A bit eccentric.

She saw a dog roaming the estate and thought it was mine. It wasn't. She panicked, she said, and reached for my door and went in, shouting my name

My actual dog, a very low prey drive GH, approached her wagging. Luckily, he didn't see her as a threat and harm her.

My neighbour said she panicked then and tried a dog treat but the roaming dog wasn't interested. She then went into my fridge and got out a LEG OF LAMB 😒

She is seen on video camera attached to the house, waving down the dog with the leg of lamb in hand, waving it like she is in Ollivander's wand shop

The dog wonders off elsewhere and she's seen again throwing the leg of lamb into the nearby hedges.

AIBU to want it back or paid for? Or is she too unhinged to ask this? Not sure what to do. She has posted a picture of the dog on the estate FB group. No claims for the dog yet... who on footage and in her photo, is not a GH. It's very clearly a tiny terrier type 🙄

As I say, she is a really friendly neighbour but somewhat OTT, dramatic and loud. She has a 19 year old daughter who is lovely. And a polite and very normal 15 year old son. Both nothing like her loud and overly familiar ways

My door was left open by me as I had run 3 doors down to give my lovely neighbour some bits I was passing onto her

I have no idea why she would lie or try and enter my house. She genuinely looked like she was trying to get the dog

Maybe just try locking your front door? Most people do.

JanglingJack · 03/08/2024 19:14

I just need to know why it was in the fridge.
Clearly a special occasion coming up this very weekend and I'm worried about how the OP will manage to replace hedged item at such short notice. I'm sure there's loads in Asda or something, but it must be a huge dinner party blow.

quantumbutterfly · 03/08/2024 19:17

How odd. op I think you've been fleeced. The shear nerve of it. I wouldn't gambol on getting your money back. Baaaad luck.

Retaliate buy going to hers and tempting a neighbours cat with a side of salmon and throwing it in the village fish pond.

Lacdulancelot · 03/08/2024 19:25

I believe you op.
My dsis is v. eccentric and it’s the sort of daft thing she would do.
However she would pay the money back if asked.

godmum56 · 03/08/2024 19:25

AIBU for my first thought to have been blimey you must have a huge fridge?

summerdazey · 03/08/2024 19:25

Was it a shared neighbourhood fridge?

Sethera · 03/08/2024 19:26

Ask her; she may well be feeling a bit sheepish about the whole thing by now. But don't let her pull the wool over your eyes. Hopefully she's minted and can afford to replace it.

Maybe it's safe. In the communal fridge.

Greyhound I'm guessing

Superhansrantowindsor · 03/08/2024 19:29

Ewe can’t be serious

Haruka · 03/08/2024 19:32

Funnily enough someone reported a dog they'd taken home for now on a local FB page today. A terrier type. Do you live somewhere starting with T, OP?

What’s a GH?

I, too, was wondering what kind of dog a GH is.

I googled "GH dog breed" and "Ghananian Street Dog" came up as the first result.

monicagellerbing · 03/08/2024 19:33

Is it greyhound

quantumbutterfly · 03/08/2024 19:34

Gusset hound I think. (they're lap dogs)
