To ask what your life would look like on 60k

What do you think your life would look like if you and your partner earned around 30k each per annum? Would you both work full time or would one of you be able to go part time? Would this be enough to support you and the children you have? Would it be impossible? How would you feel?

That would be an absolute dream for us. We live in the south west and have a small mortgage (compared to many), earn about 45k between us and buy clothes secondhand, almost never eat out etc. It would enable us to save and finish the house off and have the odd holiday. I can't imagine it tbh

My partner earns 55k, and despite living in a very affordable area, we can't survive on just that. I only earn about 15k and we just get by, but not enough for holidays abroad or to upgrade our 15 year old cars and I just had to put school uniform on credit card as I'm in my overdraft. 3 children though and I'm retraining and wasn't entitled to any help with student finance so those expenses plus the higher tax band, child benefit cap etc makes it a lot less than it sounds. Two people working minimum wage full time is 50k now so it's a manageable amount if you have no debt, but not a lot of disposable income like a lot of people tend to assume when I tell them my partner earns too much for me to be entitled to help with mine or my teenagers student finances.

Would be amazing for us. Currently surviving as a family of four on about £25k a year. My husband has just started a new job which if goes well means he will be on £57k life would be so so different. We will be able to pay our bills, afford a food shop without worrying too much and maybe even go out for dinner sometimes! Hopefully it works out 🤞
