People on trains are awful

Just to caveat I know this isn't everyone.

So far in 2.5 hours.

Someone listening to the news on their phone without headphones. I could hear every word clearly about the stabbings and there were young children in the carriage too.

Several people coughing, spluttering and sniffing galore.

People allowing their children to shout, scream, sing loudly.

People shoving the blinds down without checking it's ok when it's a shared window (ok this one is pretty minor).

Someone playing videos loudly.

The toilets have pee all over the floor and they stink.

People with feet on the seats.

I could probably think of more. 🤢

On a long train journey a man was watching a football match loudly on his tablet. There is a special level of hell reserved for him.

As a positive note I was in London yesterday and went on the tube between Euston and Bank.
It was standing room only but 2 guys immediately asked if I would like their seat. At the 1st stop when people got off another guy (older than me) oferred me a seat before he sat down (I refused as only going 4 stops).
So I presumed
a) there are good men about
b) I look elderly
c) I look pregnant
🤣

I had a 2 hour commute home from Birmingham on Monday. When I boarded and found my seat the man in the accompanying seat looked to have set up a travelling office. He was spread over both seats, had both tray tables down with laptop, phone, notebooks, papers, chargers etc, a water bottle and massive rucksack on my seat.

I greeted him with "hello, I've booked this seat, shall I move your bag for you?".

It took an age for him to gather everything together and put his rucksack on the luggage rack above our seats. He then spent the rest of the journey doing "performative" working and constantly nudging me whilst he juggled papers, notebooks, phone and laptop (seriously, every two minutes). I understand people wanting to work on their commute but they need to work within the space they have and ideally book a table seat.

I told someone who was using their phone on speaker on a train recently that none of us wanted to listen to his conversation and mimed the correct way to use a phone. He got stroppy and called me rude, ended his call then proceeded to watch tv with the speaker on. It's not an unusual occurrence sadly.

The feet on seats is something I noticed on my last train journey. A man took his shoes and socks off and put his feet on the seat opposite him. When has this ever been acceptable or normal behaviour!

Sadly I think lots of people are just not taught basic manners and consideration for other people.
