Noises in the night

Was woken up in the middle of the night last night by some noises and banging which sounded like they were in the second bedroom on our floor then moved onto our landing. My heart was racing as it sounded like an animal (or person!) moving about.

I woke my husband up and told him I thought there was something in the house. He got really angry with me for waking him up said ‘what do you want me to do!? you really want me to get up!?’ Then stomped about turning lights on shouting ‘what are you talking about’ and opening doors before returning to the bedroom and calling me silly and cruel for waking him up.

I think I thought he would want to protect us? I was quite scared. Should I just have gone and checked it out myself? (22w pregnant if relevant) Was I unreasonable for waking him up?

It sounds like a scenario from a 70s sitcom “George I can hear a noise!”, sitting there in a baby doll nighty, him answering “not now dear!” Thinking she’s trying to get frisky! Someone up thread said what’s the point of having a man in the house if he won’t protect you, well some men aren’t strong and brave, and some women are, my nan was a very hard woman, she would have knocked out any intruder, have plenty of stories lol. So the moral of the story? No idea, if you want a big tattooed hard nut then marry one, but not all men and women conform to type. Although if you’re not happy with his response, then have a word and see what’s what, you know him better than us!

Honestly it depends....
if this doesnt usually happen then he is being an arsehole for not just checking like a sane human being.
however if you frequently wake him up coz you hear noises then I would understand the attitude!

I live in a victorian terrace. The neighbours only have to sneeze and you would swear they are in the room with you.🙄

I think people are being really nasty to you, you were right to wake him up, you were scared and he should of been nicer. Yes be cranky about being woken but it was for a good reason, there could of been someone or something in the house. As for everyone saying they would of gone to look themselves, i would if as well, but we are all different and its ok not to x,

Yes I'd also be annoyed being woken up because of your paranoia.

Its nor paranoia . She heard noises she did not make it up

Subconsciously she did , evidently so. As there was nothing there.

Doesnt mean she did not hear noises

God, some of you lot have low bars. I have woken my h a few times as I have heard noises, and he has always got up with good grace. He has never badmouthed me or criticised me.

OP, your h sounds like an arse. Has his behaviour got worse since you got pregnant? If so, watch out.

Totally unreasonable.

If you were on your own you'd have had no option to investigate by yourself, and even if you had the decency to leave DH asleep and it was something sinister I'm sure your screams would have alerted him to that fact quickly enough.

I warn every single partner or person I'm liable to fall asleep in front of emphatically not to try and wake me. I'm beyond cantankerous and have been known to lash out while half-asleep. Sympathies entirely with DH I'm afraid.

Don't have a baby then 🙄
