To ask if you've ever had a verruca spontaneously resolve after so many years?

I've had a verruca for about 9 years now. I've tried all sorts to get rid of it - apple cider vinegar, bazuka and bazuka extra strength, filing, cutting it out with razor blades and nail files, duct tape, banana peel, silver nitrate from the podiatrist, freezing from both the podiatrist and over the counter, nail polish, corn plasters, taking multivitamins inc zinc to try and boost my immune system. It's bled profusely in the past from treatments and still not gone. Nothing I do seems to get rid of it and I'm utterly fed up. I can't afford more expensive private treatment like Swift.

It seems to get to a certain point and refuse to budge any more plus it really hurts. The latest I've tried is extra strength bazuka and using professional nail clippers to cut it down as much as possible and then file it down with a foot file. It never seems to go any further than this though.

Is it possible it'll just spontaneously go at this stage? I don't know what else to try!

Yes, me! I had several on one foot, a wart on my knee and one on my finger. They were there for years and I tried everything. One day I woke up and POOF! They'd all vanished without a trace! It was really odd.

Hi,

I had a similar issue, tried everything for years including professional treatments. I gave up.

Then one day I noticed that they’d gone. The key difference was I’d been taking magnesium & multivitamins on a daily basis for 2-3 months to improve my general health (not my feet lol). I genuinely believed it helped my immune system get rid of them. Long standing verrucae can be a sign of weaker immune health.

It’s worth considering, it can’t hurt. I hope you find something that works.

My daughter had several warts on her hands and we tried everything to get rid of them. About 2 years in, I bought magnesium gel for something else and when reading about it, it said you could use it on warts and verrucas. We were willing to try anything by this point - 1 wart was huge and covered part of her nail. I called her to reapply it one day and she held out her hands, I was like, they're gone!! It only took a couple of applications.

My advice is do everything all at once - bazuka, thuja, podiatrist freezing and regular cutting out.

Although I'm convinced the one of those that truly got rid of my 4 year old one was the cutting out with a surgical scalpel. Risky and unbelievably painful admittedly, but I was due to go on a hen do spa break and.was determined that my foot wasn't gonna look gross

I have x2 OP. had them for a few years. Spent a small fortune trying to get rid of them with no luck. Glad to read they can just disappear. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The more recent treatment I've spent money on is a natural treatment that was heavily pushed on Facebook recently. I thought it was working initially, had many rave reviews however sadly it hasn't for me although I have a new bottle of the stuff so will continue but don't feel confident.

I had one on my foot and I couldn’t do anything as I was pregnant and I think it really took hold and I ended up with it for about 4 years. I had extremely painful freezing treatment which destroyed the skin around the verruca and it still didn’t get rid of it.
Then I got a chest infection and was prescribed steroids and a couple of days after starting them I woke up and it had just gone! Never came back.

I had one for several years. Same as you, I had tried everything to get rid of it and just gave up in the end and accepted that id have to just live with it.

Totally randomly it just disappeared one day a couple of years ago and hasn't come back!

Coconutter24 · 18/07/2024 13:36

I had one in my teens for years!! Then all of a sudden it just sort of disappeared. I think the only thing I tried was bazuka gel and I also used to pick it 🙈 it was really strange how it just went

unknowntome · 18/07/2024 13:50

Yes mine has just gone in the last few weeks, had it for around 2 years.

TorroFerney · 18/07/2024 13:55

I had one for years that just went suddenly. My daughter had about 15 on her foot at one point, tried lots of stuff that didn't work, they just went of their own accord. I wonder if prodding them releases more whatever into your system that keeps them going?

Chiropodist said to leave them alone they will usually resolve themselves as your body's immune system will kick in. I'm sure for some really bad ones that's not the case. His experience he said was that the people that came with problematic verruca's were usually people who'd had some kind of intervention to remove them.

When DS had one I asked GP (was there for something else) what the current recommended treatment was. He said leave it alone, it will eventually go on its own and he'll have immunity. It did and he's never had another in nearly 20 years, despite being a very regular swimmer.

I had a load when i swam as a child, they eventually went and despite swimming a lot as an adult i didnt get another one until about 6 years ago when i was in my mid 50s. My DD did Camp America and came back with a foot full of verrucas and i caught them off her , which took about 3 years to disappear. Not sure if they were a different strain because they came from USA or not and i wasnt as immune to the virus. DD as far as I can know still has them

Overtired345 · 18/07/2024 14:06

I had a cluster of 5 on my left foot that disappeared after 15 years (!!) within months of leaving the UK and moving to a hot country. I can only imagine it's the vitamin D and wearing sandals/less closed shoes.

I had tried everything, even gone private, they were very painful and so deep, nothing could shift them. And then 'poof' overnight
