Dear MNs,

First off all i’ll delete this later today so i don’t clog up ‘AIBU’

I’m paying a lovely lady/company to make me a logo for mine and my sons little side line idea (De clutter /Tidy/ Cleans)

Could you help me /advise me on what colour the wording/text should be? Something that stands out but also complements the blue dress and gold hair/crown and broom and doesn’t clash..

I don’t think this grey/silver is right

any advise (only i’ve not got long and it may stay like this )

thank you so much :)

Lots of people have made the copyright point so I’m reluctant to add, but as a lawyer who has dealt with Disney copyright issues I promise you this is not worth the grief. I’m also really pissed off for you that the company you have used have said that this would be ok. It’s not ok.

i would go for something much cleaner and more simple. Are you wed to being called sweeping beauty? It doesn’t adequately encapsulate what it is that you do if you’re also focusing on decluttering.

I’d go for something shorter with a tagline:

Calm Company - we bring the calm and clean to your chaos and clutter

Time and Space - we create space for your things so you have time for your living

etc etc …..

OP

I play around with logo design and am happy to throw you some things together, for free x

Quoting this kind offer to draw OP's attention to it x

What about just calling your company ‘Local area’ Cleaners? If not already taken. That could help if people are searching on the internet for services near them and make you seem local/personal.

omegahedron · 15/07/2024 11:18

Think about what is specific to you that you're bringing to people.
Decluttering for people that need a kickstart to get their home in order - what about Kickstart Home & Cleaning Services?
Are you helping the client to feel less cluttered? To give them literal space and/or headspace? To banish germs? Organise a whole house? To make surfaces shiny? To take a burden from their daily lives? To free up time for them?

Think of all the positives your work will bring and see if that inspires you to a better name and logo. There are actually some great logo designers on Instagram who make little videos about how an idea becomes a logo.
Good luck. (Please please lose the Disney!)

I'd keep it really simple, something like this, this took seconds on Canva.

I'm honestly shocked that anyone would try and charge you money for that. You can make your own logo on Canva in minutes, they have so many templates to pick from. For example:

I would be very disappointed if Mrs Overall turned up to my house instead of Cinderella.

Abigaillovesholidays · 15/07/2024 13:04

Hi OP
Your logo is so so important in how people perceive your buisness and it's worth getting it right. You have some great advice here and the one by @NancyJoan is much better than the original and would make me want to use your company. Good luck with it!

PetulantPenguin · 15/07/2024 13:20

I agree with previous posters, I feel its still too close and you may get sued.

PetulantPenguin · 15/07/2024 13:20

I'd also use Nancys, looks much more professional

CocoBellaSparkle · 15/07/2024 13:41

Wow thank you so much everyone for not making me feel like a bit of an idiot now (because I do!!!) and thank you for your honest replies but helpful too and I really really appreciate- i cannot believe some of you (kindly and generously ) even showed me your logos that you put together for me (and they look fantastic ) and it’s taken weeks for the lady to do this and i’ve paid her (my fault but i appreciate paying upfront as i bet so many do the work and the customer could go awol )

thank you

Don't feel stupid, you don't know what you don't know. Write off the money and give something else a go.

SunshineonLeaves · 15/07/2024 14:19

You shouldn’t feel stupid, you’ve been ripped off by someone who cannot seriously call themselves a designer - stuff like this gives people who actually design for a living a bad name.

How much did they charge you? I’d be leaving some very bad reviews if nothing else.

Hope you can get something better sorted - lots of good advice here.

AhBiscuits · 15/07/2024 14:22

Disney lawyers do not fuck around and they will sue you. I know people who have been threatened for crocheting a toy which has a resemblance to one of their characters.

This is great!!!

Simple on the eye... If I saw that driving down the road more than once I would be aware of local firm as it's immediately recognisable, being so clear and sharp.

If I was in need of a cleaner it would make me prick my ears up and take a snap of the number to call.

The Disney princess I would assume was something to do with children's parties and it didn't even register as it wouldn't resonate with my needs... It would be lumped into 'something to do with Disney' in my brain and my eyes would slide right off it.

So glad you posted in time and aren't too upset.

Don't kick yourself...
Ideas often need a polish before they are let loose into the wild, no shame in that!
That's what version 1.0... 1.1 ... 1.2 etc etc is for. 😁

If your foray into the world of employing graphic designers led you to some better ideas, albeit in an unplanned convoluted way - it's still money well spent.

I would go with Nancy Joan's image (or similar)👌
Decide if you deffo want that name, which is fine now the princess is dropped, and get out there. ☺️

Good luck!
